I am a new member and I am not sure whether I am posting correctly.Leviticus Ch.25.Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you.
I do not believe that God has ever been involved in slavery.
At that time the world practiced slavery. The Bible was written to them not us. What is evident from its' pages is, God involved Himself with people and their economy of that time. What the pages of the Bible won't tell is how the people of ancient Israel resolved Leviticus 25:44-45 with Leviticus 19:33-34 and Exodus 12:48. Theoretically a foreign slave could become as a natural born Israelite and then be able to buy himself out of his perpetual slavery. God became involved with slavery because mankind was involved with it, that is a fact.

Kenneth, I'd probably suggest a good bible study course, I could say an Alpha course but I've never been on one to endorse it or not. Our local Church (We're also in the UK) ran an excellent course putting into perspective the context of the bible, both historically and culturally. It addresses the questions you have such as slavery. It certainly cleared up many questions people had.
What was really drawn from it was that understanding the cultural and historic changes that have taken place since biblical times are key to unlocking such answers. Even the cultural changes within the last 100 years make it difficult to grasp concepts from earlier in that time period.
Bibilcal context was also highlighted as being key to understanding more about these burning issues.
I can give you the name / contact of the guy who ran this particular course if you like.

The Passover.Exodus Ch.12 As I see this God is being accused of murdering innocent Egyptian children.
I do not believe that God did this. Can we discuss?
Some scholars do not think the account of 600,000 men (not including women and children) spending 40 years in the Sinai ever happened. I do not think God promised Semitic slaves a land of milk and honey to lead them to die miserable deaths in the desert.

Archaeologists dug in the ruins of ancient towns in Israel and Jordan and determined when these towns were occupied by ceramic and carbon-14 dating. The invasion of Joshua can not be verified as some of the towns he was given credit for destroying were not occupied during times earlier scholars indicated as likely times of the invasion (Recent Archaeological Discoveries and Biblical Research, William G. Dever, 1990).

Peter and a council of apostles in Jerusalem did not burden Gentile converts to Christianity with Passover observances (Acts 15).

I have more problems with killings in the Bible.
Leviticus Ch.24.Stone blasphemer.
Leviticus.Ch.20 A woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it.Kill both the woman and the animal.
Numbers Ch.15 The man collecting sticks on the sabbath. All the congregation shall Stone him.
Numbers Ch 25 Cities of refuge . The next of kin will kill the murderer.
2Samuel Ch.6.Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God for the oxen stumbled .God struck him and killed him.
Jeremiah Ch.13.I will fill all the inhabitants of the land and I will dash them one against the other. I will not pity nor spare nor have mercy, but will destroy them.
I do not believe that God would do any of these things.

Remember that the laws of the OT were written for a different people at a different time. God was using His laws a way to keep His chosen people richeous and distinguish them from other cultures who worshipped false gods and participated in pagan rituals. And, it worked. None of those cultures exist now. However, Judaism, and as a result Christianity, survived.

Since the coming of Jesus, times have changed.

God is the Creator of all things. He is sovereign. He sets the standard for righteousness. No one is innocent because all are born with an Adamic (sinful) nature. God executed justice against a wicked and evil people. God has never murdered anyone.

I think you are right.

I can't believe that God would send his own son to die so lets get rid of that.

Would a loving God impose rules? Surely he loves us no matter what so lets get rid of the 10 commands. I mean we've got rid of Salvation so its no big deal.

Anyone can do anything they like and it doesn't matter. Anything else?

More questions but I would like your comments.
Leviticus Ch.26
The scapegoat story.Surely its absurd.
Be cruel to a goat and your sins will go away.
If you will not obey my commands I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away your life.
Numbers Ch.14 Yet I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third or fourth generations for the sin of their parents.
Surely not by a loving God.
Judges Ch. 11.The story of Jephthah's daughter.
Jephthah must have been mentally ill and his daughter and her friends.

Passover this if you dare
5. Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

(Exo 12:21 KJV) Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
(Exo 12:22 KJV) And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
(Exo 12:23 KJV) For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
(Exo 12:24 KJV) And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons forever.

The Lord I know would not condone the killing of anything, since He created it all. The term "hate" or "kill" is not in the Lord's vocabulary.

6th Commandment: Thou shalt not kill.

They defiled the Lord’s commandment then and they continue to defile the Lord today.
