  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is your faith without flaw? If not, then you are an unbeliever, in part, as we all are.

So, a believer's faith that is flawed is an unbeliever. Very interesting. So, you do consider yourself an unbeliever? Do you know why you portray to us you are a believer? Which part, believer or unbeliever, do you come on here and argue with non-Calvinists? How do you know when you are a believer or an unbeliever? Do you go through daily cycles of belief and unbelief?

I believe Jimmy said just the opposite.

I believe he said this -

'Is your faith without flaw? If not, then you are an unbeliever, in part, as we all are.'

It seems to me jj said 'as we all are' referring to having a flawed faith and being an unbeliever. How do you read this Marvin? What opposite do you want to propose?

And how did Jesus say that pardon came about?

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so thatwe who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him youalso, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

If your faith is imperfect then you are an unbeliever, IN PART, as we all are.

No one believes perfectly, wholly, in God's word.

So we have a multitude of believers who are unbelievers. I'm afraid you are getting in too deep and having to say things like this.

Now let's see what Jesus says about pardon, shall we? Would you believe Jesus if I showed you what He said about pardon?

Luke 24
46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,
47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem...

Do you see those words 'repentance' and 'remission'? Do you even know what 'remission' is? What you quoted above doesn't even mention repentance nor remission. Let's see what Strong's says 'remission' is.

g859 - aphesis
  1. release from bondage or imprisonment
  2. forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty
There it is, forgiveness or PARDON of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed). It is also the remission of the penalty and release from bondage. What more is salvation about? It's about two words - repentance and forgiveness. This was true in the OT as well. And to think Jesus came to earth to tell us this truth.

And Jesus forgave many on earth while alive, and many had pardon of sins while He walked this earth. Do you believe this jj? Jesus forgave sins on earth while alive that we may know He had power to forgive sins and pardon people.

Luke 5:24
But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

This paralytic was pardoned of his sins. And before you want to argue Jesus just healed him, I will give these words of Jesus -

Matthew 9:5
For which is easier, to say, ‘your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘arise and walk’?

I ask you, which was easier for Jesus to say?

Are you pitting Paul and Jesus?

These verses in no way contradict the ones that I posted.

Paul said nothing about repentance and remission of sins for salvation. Jesus says unless you repent, you will likewise perish. Who will you believe?

So, Paul's writing are wrong? They should be excused from the NT?

So Marvin, are you saying you could be mistaken in your beliefs? Could it be you are mistaken in other beliefs of yours?
If you can find where I said it - then I am saying it.

If you can't find where I said it, it is likely because I am not saying it.

Capisce?
Also, does God predestine mistakes to be made for His children?
Yes.

He does not author those mistakes. But He does predestine them to happen.

I'm sure you won't be able to follow that concept - mostly because you are so accostomed to trying hard to misrepresent the beliefs of others that in time you simply forgot how to understand and discuss doctrine in a normal manner.
Oh, if your belief is mistaken, and you confirm it and believe it, then you are lying if it's wrong. You shouldn't be making doctrines out of beliefs you think could be mistaken.
And people who are spiritually dead shouldn't be trying to understand spirutal truth.

Now, do you care to answer #4, Hammster?

Thank you for answering Hammster.

Now, let's look at Paul's words in Acts 22.

9 And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me.

Why couldn't Paul remember what happened? Why did he change his story in Acts 22? Surely, the word of God doesn't lie, or do you think it does?

It's much like this

“Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came out of heaven: "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again." So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him."”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:28-29‬ ‭NASB‬‬
