Without having read the rest of this thread, I very much agree Paul. I remember YeshuaSlaveJeff trying to argue for the justified use of this word, but how on earth can you call someone "stupid" in love? I suppose only in the right context where the person you were talking to knew they had been stupid, and you were saying it simply as a way of agreeing with them in love, i.e. making them feel a little better about themselves in knowing that you understood that we all make mistakes. I can certainly call myself stupid on occasion, but that's a different thing. But to speak of unbelievers in this way? The only way they would not be offended (and thus sinned against) is if they had already repented, and were using it in reference to themselves, and even then you would have to be careful.
I would never in a million years call them stupid to their face. That would be cruel and unproductive. However, there are indeed people who are profoundly mentally damaged in the psychological sense. The end product of this damage is stupidity. You might not like the sound of the word but don't blame me. God made humans easily fallible. The real question is why?
