How harshly is the age gap judged?

40 year old woman pursuing a 20 year old man.....creepy as heck....

Either she is very immature or likes to be dominant in a relationship.


The part people forget this that these 20 - 40 year combos quickly turn into 40 - 60 year combos and 50 - 70 year old ... in some ways the gap gets bigger as the older one becomes "elderly" as the younger one hits "middle age".

Also, like older women (over 40) who tend to have a higher risk for offspring with Down's syndrome, older men (over 50) have a high risk for offspring with schizophrenia.

I've been hit on by a few women in their 40s and was off put by it. Although if both couples are happy, then whatever I guess.. lol.

Yeah. Although I think for many the idea of long term monogamy is on the way out.

Certainly. Women care about youthfulness too. Just not to the same extent as men, since the evolutionary pressures are not the same. Similar to how even men care to some extent the height of their partner too, even though evolutionary pressures have never made it reach the same extent of importance as it is for women.

From what I know from women, many women do not want to be their partner's "mother" and are actually unattracted to younger men. Lol. And if they are being with younger men it's only to inflate their ego that they still "got it".

Well if I were interested in having kids then I would probably care. But given that I don't care either way in that department I'd be fine going with someone in there mid 40s. I mean just look at hugh jackman and the situation hes in. His wife is beyond past her prime yet they are still going at it. And yeah you are definitely right most mid 40's women probably would not go out with me, most aren't looking for someone younger than them. But some are open to the idea and I am least open to the idea. I wouldn't want to just rule someone out so easily. So that's about the range of comfort for me at this time in my life.

I know a well-respected gentleman at the church I used to attend who married a 20 something year old woman (daughter of a well-respected pastor who was very strict), when he was mid 30s. they must be like 15 years apart give/take.

I think people judge on a case by case basis, in general. this pastor wouldn't have married his daughter if he did not respect the man wasn't a good man. You can see when you look at the age gap, people look and judge whether the married out of love or lust/money. if it is love, nobody cares.

The real question is about an age gap between women and men with the woman being the older...?

I am in a group that doesn't mind anything in the 20-40(5?)ish range. Gotta be flexible in these tough times we face as a nation. Obviously television anchors have probably made me extend my range higher than it would be if I had a more realistic view of what a mid 40s women usually looks like. Then again I don't really care about having kids.

I've considered being in that group. I do find women in that age range to be attractive.

I think about that. And I would say, today I would be happy with someone 36-38... but then I think what about 20 years from now. though I have read a lot of good arguments for marring an old woman... it is still hard to get past the mental block.
