  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Humanity has already been condemned. Again I say.....-The Bible.

Of course humanity is doomed, like any other species, humans would eventually go extinct,....but since I don't believe in the afterlife, I intend to make full use of the one I have right here, right now ...YOLO

I don't know and you don't either. The difference between you and me is that I don't need to invent an explanation just because it's makes you feel uncomfortable to say "I don't know".
I know you don't. It's already been invented for you. You just put your faith in their invention.

Can we count all the failed prophecies against that?
No.

You have too many fingers.

(One is too many.)

And just off the record, did you see my post where I showed mathematically that we all* have eleven fingers?

Can you count to zero?
Number of prophecies in the Bible x number of books in the Bible x number of unbelievers in Heaven = number of failed prophecies.

That's why I was careful to say "next to" and "equal airtime" ... not "above".

I can see that there is good to be found in most religion, but at the same time, people can also abuse it and quote scriptures from it to justify whatever they want. It's open to interpretation, so whether its used for good or evil is highly dependent on the one doing the interpretation....

David Koresh of The Branch Davidians would be a perfect example of twisting scriptures to suit his own purpose

That I agree with...
Hallelujah!

Here's the whole story

18 Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods. 19 Then I will say to myself,“You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?

The answer to verse 20 is, my wife and children ....and I'm more then happy to leave it to them.

The thing is though, there are Scriptures that are so plain they can't be twisted, and it means just as much to an unbeliever as a twisted one.

That isn't saying that we should not eat drink and be merry. It is merely pointing out that time has to be set aside for spiritual things as well. Material things do not guarantee God's approval. Neither are they comparable to the blessings promised those who remain faithful.

And I'm sure that is meaningful to those who believe, for us non believers, we do not foresee an afterlife, to us, this life is all we got,...and I'm not saying that is an excuse to do whatever we like,...my motto is to leave a better world for our future generations,....nobody is sure what happens when we die, and I'll leave it till then to find out

Paul didn't eat, drink, and be merry.
