Do you really want to know their answer to that? Is gravity a fact or a theory? Should we follow Newton's theory of gravity or Einstein's theory? Newton says gravity is an attraction. Einstein says that gravity is more of a push or a shove.

Right now science is working on a protein that can cure the common cold and most all viruses.

"The knowledge of good and evil." has to do with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:9 "The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground--trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

The "search for Him" would be found in the scriptures that talk about seeking after God. " As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God." Psalm 42:1 "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near." Isaiah 55:6

My personal opinion? Anyone who tries to force fit evolutionism into the bible is a heretic.

For example, you are a heretic concerning creation and the fall. All I need to do to prove it is to ask you how we got our sin nature. Can you tell us why we sin? Why we need Jesus christ as our savior?

Science is not good or evil. Sort of like a knife. You can use a knife to prepare your food or to build a house. In the hands of a doctor a knife can cut away the disease and bring about healing. You can also use a knife to do harm and injury.

Evolutionists work hard to gather evidence that can be used for Creationism just the same as it can be used for evolutionary theory. Each and every individual has the choice if they want to honor God or not.

This is not where I wanted this thread to go at all.

Drew inevitably any discussion about the literalness of Genesis will break down into a discussion of evolution. The reason for that the vast majority of Christians that do not believe in a literal Genesis base that fact on evolution and not on Scripture itself. Thier father in evolution causes them to have to dismiss Genesis. It's interesting that some Christians defend the integrity of Scripture which is the inspired word of God and others defend evolution which is a product if mans thoughts.

The word "theory" is used to mean different things. At one extreme, we use the word to denote a naked, unsupported hypothesis:

I have a theory that the Dutch were behind the assassination of JFK.

At the other extreme, the term is used by scientists to denote a well-supported, well-documented explanation of observations:

The theory of evolution.

Now: To be fair, it is at least possible that many people really do not know that term "theory" has this wide range of meanings.

But now that it has been pointed out - no more excuses for this patently false "it's just a theory" line of argument.

Science is facts, and the gathering thereof. Evolution is the interpretation of those facts to fit a particular viewpoint. A theory ( as you called evolution yourself above) cannot be a fact. Those terms are mutually exclusive.

This is a distraction about the fluid boundaries of word meanings. Evolution is a scientific fact and it is also a theory in the way that scientists use the term theory: to denote an evidentially-supported explanation of observations.

This we know because, among other things, various ancient historians have written treatises on how they struck the fact/narrative balance.
