  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Japanese cars are way better than American cars. I've driven both, there's no comparison. I had a Toyota Solara that went to almost 200K miles before it began to get more expensive to keep it than it was worth and I didn't trust it anymore (this was in college when I frequently took long road trips on rural roads). I now drive a Chevrolet that has 50K miles and already feels middle-aged.
Im confused..........

You dislike American cars....... but you praise the Toyota..... but dislike a Chevy?

Toyota is more American these days than a Chevy.

While American car makers outsourced everything. Toyota moved plants to the US..... so....... if you want American...... drive a Toyota.

As a consumer you must change your loyalties as time goes by.

There was one a time when American made meant it was good and Japanese made meant it was poop. Then....... it reversed..........

Now...... you cant even find an American flag that isn't made in China.

I'm really sorry. :( In a way, I can relate. My cat was attacked by another cat and when Hane (cat) saw the offending cat outside, my nephew being right there beside her and before I could react, she freaked out and swat my nephew out of fear and defense. My dad railed at me for it and saying he better not see that cat by the time he got back from the clinic. That same night I was gone. It's basically why I don't live with him anymore. As what my sister said, "we have to love him from afar." This all happened about 2 weeks after my baptism, so I think it was all done for a reason.

Your cat only acted out of instinct and self defense. With animals it's either fight or flight. It's their nature. I'm sorry to hear about your poor relations with your father because of that.

I know I can't fully relate to you, Wayholka.

As long as people try then I am happy. Normally people just decide that I'm a bad person and walk away. Maybe the reason why Jesus appeals so much to me is that he always focused his attention on the lowly, the sick, and the outcast instead of those that already have everything. Jesus seems to actually understand something that most people don't. He was a moralist way ahead of his (and our) time.

Doubtful, but you can find out for certain in the vin number.

Even IF it was assembled here...... the parts are likely made in Malaysia, Mexico, China.... etc.... etc.

cars like anything else are only as good as the parts put into them.

I agree with you though, Ford, Chevy and Chrysler/Dodge are garbage. But Toyota is more American than any of those companies now.

It amazes me how sometimes the people that you think are the strongest Christians end up being the least helpful, the least understanding, and the most lacking in grace. So basically the most hurtful. I guess being rational and understanding isn't everyone's strong suit.

I have conflict issues with my parents as well that impact me very personally, but I guess talking about those is considered "telling on other people's garbage."

OMM: Watching this scene from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

2:14 - 2:22 - "I'm especially good at expectorating" Pretty big word for a guy who doesn't read.
2:25 - 2:40 - My word, if falling to his death didn't kill Gaston then cholesterol would have.
2:42 - 2:46 - He just fired a blunderbuss three times without having to reload in between. You know what this means? He has a semi-automatic rifle that is hundreds of years ahead of its time! What does he go after the beast with? A bow and arrow. A brainless beauty if you ask me.
0:00 - 3:26 - I wish I has a midget to boost my confidence. :C

If one is putting someone on a pedestal and views them as strong, is not a valid depiction of God's glory. It is God that makes us strong through the trials we have faced and overcame. If our testimony can help someone else ask God for strength where we are weak, that isn't wrong.

Jeremiah 17:10
God knows where our hearts are in our everyday life. We are only to judge others by their fruits: Matthew 7:16

I agree. It frustrates me that Christians claim that we all have perfection in weakness and yet honor the strong: The charismatic preacher, the rich tither, the talented musician, the tough guy joining the military. It's hypocrisy that has turned many away from the faith.

We need to love each other based on who they are in Christ, not based on what they can do for us.

What we sometimes forget, too, is even those we deem the strongest have their own weaknesses and the moment they show weakness, people turn on them. Is it reasonable to put on so many expectations and then act like they failed you because they were unable to help?

Yeah, I think I'll make a full version of this with the pictures once I get the time and motivation. The drawings take more time than they look.
