• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Also, I'm still trying to decide if this snow is beautiful or really killing my vibe.

Been doing some thinking about using adblock on websites I'm part of. Wouldn't doing this be like living in a country and not paying taxes to keep the country running?

Taxes are a legal requirement. Online adverts are not.

You do have the option to disable the AdBlock on certain websites if you wanted to.

I didn't mean it like that. Nothing is really free and websites need funds in order to keep going. Putting up with ads are like a form of taxation except we don't pay with money, we just pay with our sanity.

Ads are one thing.... its another when they are intrusive.

For example:
a 2 movie having 5-10 mins of commercials.... okay.

a one hour event (such as a footbal game/superbowl) that becomes 3+ hours due to commercials.......... is a bit much.

When you finally won something from 'roll up the rim to win' from Tim Horton's in Canada.

winning a free donut, muffin, tea, or coffee is like the equivelant of winning the lottery, imo.

Like Toro says, there IS a limit. The price of that limit is up to you. Personally, I think CF are a little bit naughty. It's the only forum I post on that hosts adverts. I have a friend who runs a forum on her own and she pays for everything herself. Fair cop, CF want a bit of pocket money. But I think they go way too far.

Fair enough. I've been on websites that would host tons of very questionable ads so I can see where you're coming from.

For the moment I'm glad to be single and without kids. I mean, as much as I want kids and all of that, right now the flu is going around something here something nasty. One girl from my church got the stomach bug TWICE over Christmas break, then now has a bad flu that's kept her out all week.

Vacation is approved. Provided potential surgeries don't conflict, I'm finally going to Korea!!!

Trying to think of a fun outfit to make for the occassion. Top idea of the moment is a fusion hanbok that is reminiscent of Princess Serenity (I know SM is Japanese, but I'm just thinking of cute cartoony stuff I like).
