No, just no. "Variation" doesn't make entire characteristics completely change and it doesn't make characteristics dinosaurs lacked (like external ears) suddenly appear on one specific species and only one specific species. Your dog analogy fails because they are the result of selective breeding and thus not comparable to dinosaurs.
