  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most of the 230 rioters arrested after violent protests erupted in Washington D.C. following Donald Trump's inauguration will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said on Saturday.

The charge carries a punishment of up to ten years in jail and a $25,000 fine.

Thousand of protesters launched a violent rampage just blocks away from the White House as anti-Trump demonstrators smashed store windows, set fire to cars and threw bricks at police.

Many of those arrested are due to appear in court on Saturday, according to .

Heated clashes broke out in McPherson Square and along K Street as hundreds of riot police fired tear gas and drew their nightsticks to contain the masked mob.

As the rioting unfolded, Trump and his family were arriving at a review stand at the White House to see the end of the inaugural parade.

Militant anti-Trump protesters gave a foretaste of what could follow during the violent outbreaks, which has so far seen 217 people arrested and at least six police officers injured.

Hillary and Bernie should go on the air and call off their supporters.

Weren't they anarchists? If so, pretty sure they didn't have a side... Kinda how those things work.

Good. I'm tired of seeing violent protesters destroying property and costing society hundreds of thousands of dollars, all with impunity. It's good to set the precedent that violence will not be tolerated, regardless of who is protesting what. Note that we didn't have any problems with the 500K "women's march" on Saturday. You still have the right to protest, but you don't have the right to use that as an excuse to destroy other people's property.

Good, the violent protesters should have been arrested bc that's not OK. I'm really glad the majority of the million or so people protesting Trump were law abiding.

Maybe some of those protestors were protesting as an easy way to go back to prison.

It's conceivable a handful were, but the million or so others around the world who were law abiding at the rallies are likely law abiding citizens.

Everyone who riots is an anarchist, or so the MSM tells us.

Pretty sure there was a group of 300 anarchists that explicitly stated they are only there to cause trouble.

Someone rioting is no more an anarchist than someone receiving food stamps is a communist. There's a pretty sizeable gap in between, inferences aside.

True, it's just that some folks feel more at home behind bars and making trouble in that way might be deemed a very convenient opportunity to return to where they feel more comfortable. Outside of prison they might be friendless, jobless, and without a sense of purpose. Inside they are with their homies, might feel important because they are perhaps feared and respected for their prison savvy. Expressing a dislike for Trump might just be a fringe benefit in the whole display.

Fun fact: the major ethnic makeup of the areas that they were rioting in are either heavily black or Hispanic. Thus, they were protesting against a guy they claim is racist... by economically disenfranchising minorities.

Well you can't really expect them to be law-abiding taxpayers who registered to vote last year, can you?

No, but the media has a difficult time when leftists attack. They struggle to find words to fit their Narrative. "Anarchists" is one of their go-to words. "Mostly peaceful" is used too.

Perhaps it's hard to put one label on ten million people?

Well, we'd have to know which one was responsible. Was it a Bernie supporter or a Hillary supporter?

Since we don't know, they should both go on the air and DEMAND these people stop the violence.

Illegals try to avoid contact with the authorities that rioting would bring for fear of deportation.
That's one reason they are targeted for hate crimes=-because the perpetrators know about their fear of reporting the crime to the police. So I seriously doubt that they suddenly are risking getting themselves deported. Also, Cubans who are extremely well off in the USA, Puerto Ricans, who are USA citizens and don't really have any motive, and Dominicans, who are usually politically aloof don't riot. So if indeed there are perhaps Latinos rioting it leaves members of only one major USA Latino group available. Also to keep in mind is that 30% of Latino voters voted for Trump due to religious reasons. So opposition to Trump in the Latino community isn't a major factor.

Well, which campaign had an A in a circle logo? We can probably figure out what sort of people were responsible. C'mon, we can do this.

I wasn't saying minorities were rioting. I was saying that the protests were in mainly minority neighborhoods. So the likelihood is that any vehicles or businesses that were damaged by the rioting are owned by minorities.
