  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It appears to be free speech.

There is a difference, if I stand outside of your home and yell you stink, it's one thing; if I stand outside your home and yell "you're going to die" it is another.

Both are free speech, one will get you thrown in jail for making terroristic threats.

What if people stand in another country and say "The US will pay"?

It is not a specific threat (if it is a threat) and it is clearly not going to result in "imminent lawless action".

Got any other low probability issues we should devote an inordinate amount of time and money combating? Yes, Islamic extremism is dangerous and we should actively work to protect against it. No, two hundred Muslims in a park chanting slogans is not something I am going to freak out about. There are plenty enough crazies in the US running around killing people that I find much more problematic and deserving of our resources to keep in check.

So we deserve to 'pay?' We've earned all past and future terrorist attacks? Those still living should be living under a Caliphate? Or is this just more virtue signaling?

So's Law.

Sorry, did you mean Sod's Law? If so, I'm not really sure how you meant for it to apply here.

No, I meant what I wrote.

You think they mean they are going to send the US an invoice?

No, just demonstrating that (contrary to your ludicrous analogy) this does not meet the standards of illegal speech in the US (though this, of course, occurred in the UK)

Do you think having the biggest military in the world to which the U.S. keeps adding more and more is a benign thing and doesn't threaten anyone? if Russia, India or China did what the U.S. was doing would the U.S. feel threatened or not? should other countries feel threatened?

The most threatening to world peace country in the world is the U.S. and now with Trump in charge the whole world feels threatened.

In all honesty I don't think Trump will survive a full term, if his own country doesn't take him out some other country will.

"Islam" is not a "race".

Nor is it a "religion".

Islam is an aggressive, warring, political ideology seeking world domination.
