  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A 627-year-old 'blood miracle' failed to occur, heralding disaster for 2017

I do not know about things like this. While there are certainly many things we do not yet understand as it relates to spiritual forces (good or evil) that exist around us... I get really leery when it comes to physical signs like this. Mainly, because we have proven throughout history to be such a weak people that we tend to turn these physical things into idols. That said.... there are a lot of people predicting bad things for the coming year...a lot. They might all be wrong... but they might all be right. I don't know. :)

It does not happen and so they choose the disaster of the moment to claim it was because of no blood miracle.

The blood failed to become liquid in 1939, the year in which World War II started, and in 1980, the year of the Irpinia earhquake in which 300 people died, according to the La Stampa report.

Their evidence is that the "miracle" didn't happen in 1939, the year WWII started and 1980 when 300 people died in an earthquake? There have been hundreds of thousands lost on multiple occasions during earthquakes, cyclones, and floods, not to mention millions lost in other wars and famines. Where was this "miracle" at warning us about those years?

Next year may or may not be disastrous for many, but this blood has no say in the matter.

This is similar in nature to those who tried to blame hurricane Katrina on the lifestyle of certain Americans who happen to enjoy the intimate company of another member of the same sex, or blaming the Haitian earthquake on some the Haitian's religious customs.

Some people see signs in the sky, some see signs in the book, and some see signs in their toast.

Unbiased evidence?

You want evidence of hundreds of thousands of people dying in disasters the "miracle" blood didn't predict?

List of natural disasters by death toll - Wikipedia

We are being led to believe that when the blood doesn't liquefy it is a portent of disaster. I am suggesting the the blood liquefying is a phony miracle.

If a disaster occurs when the blood doesn't liquefy, the church and others will try to convince us that the blood 'predicted' the disaster. Pilgrims will flock to the church (bringing their money with them.) The church will be a direct beneficiary of the purported miracle. It has ever been so.

From the article
"Both the US and the UK have had a year of political turmoil, while a civil war in Syria has destroyed much of the city of Aleppo and resulted in indiscriminate killing."
Why did the 627 year old blood not predict the Syrian civil war? Why did it not predict the thousand of other lives lost in wars and disasters in all the other years it has liquefied since 1980? I am not in any way belittling the 300 lives lost in 1980 but there have been worse death tolls since then in a single tragedy that this blood apparently did not predict.

I think the Turin Shroud is a miracle! It is the cloth that covered Our Lord! Science 'Cannot' explain how it was 'made'. For me, it was at the point of resurrection that Jesus, Our Lord, left his image, knowing that millions would see it and believe.

Science has deemed the Turin Shroud a forgery.

Science doesn't need to explain how it was made. The burden of proof is on anyone saying that it has to be the burial shroud of Jesus Christ. And so far, there's no good evidence that it has to be.
