  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Produce evidence that verifies this:

Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

... or admit that there are things God did that didn't generate any.

Produce evidence that verifies this (from the script of Spider-Man):

This time the webbing flies across the alley and
sticks to the side of the other building.

Peter tugs on it. It's tough. He pulls harder. Can't break it. He
wraps both hands around it and yanks as hard as he can. He doesn't
break the webbing, what he does is pull himself right off the roof
of the building.

Peter SCREAMS as he sails through the air, but he keeps his grip
on the web, and the result is that he swings across the alley and
lands on the wall of the building opposite, clinging there with
his hands and feet.

Or admit that Peter Parker (AKA Spider-man) did things that didn't generate any.

Heeeey! Welcome back! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Why would you wish somebody who is neither a US citizen nor resident in the US "Happy Thanksgiving"?

Do you think the whole world cares about US celebrations?

Because it is cause-and-effect evidence of Jesus Christ.

Perhaps in their mind, science can take a hike?

As you've just demonstrated.

Ah the old "an appropriated pagan festival is evidence of Jesus Christ" argument. The problem is that the harvest festival is celebrated at different times and in different ways around the world. So my question still stands - why do you think those outside your culture should care about your culture?

I beg your pardon?

You mean Thanksgiving?

Or are you plutoing the term in order to dilute it?

Ah ... the world. Got it (I think).

Surround a Christian holiday with tares, then claim the Christian holiday is worldly.

Science at its best.

I'm sure it does.

After plutoing and diluting, you're gonna act dumb now, aren't you?

You appear to be unaware that Thanksgiving is a harvest festival based on earlier pagan harvest festivals.

Surround a Christian holiday with tares, then claim the Christian holiday is worldly.
Wrong way round. Do you mean surround a pagan festival with Christian trappings and then claim it is Christian?

Science at its best.
Back at you.

After plutoing and diluting, you're gonna act dumb now, aren't you?
It's not me acting dumb. And now you've been educated you can stop the act..... but I won't hold my breath.
Because it is cause-and-effect evidence of Jesus Christ.
No, it really isn't.

Because it is cause-and-effect evidence of Jesus Christ.

No, it is cause-and-effect evidence of belief in Jesus Christ.

Actually, it's not even that. The celebration of Thanksgiving as we know it today is Civil War propaganda.

Perhaps in their mind, science can take a hike?

What does science have to do with Thanksgiving? Are you babbling?

And my NASA cap is cause-and-effect that NASA exists.

Sure ... people can make star fleet insignia to wear, but star fleet is fiction, and advertises itself as such.

"Today" being the key word?

Today? after educatees and other non-believers sowed their tares in it?

Color me NOT SURPRISED.

How do you know it's fiction? Because of a an insignia?

"Today" being the key word?

Color me NOT SURPRISED.

You're so ignorant of Thanksgiving you don't even know why you celebrate it, do you?

Color me not surprised.

It's called cause-and-effect.

Would you know it if I wasn't?

I'd have to see you not babbling in order to make a comparison. Any chance you can oblige?

I don't think I have to be a professor of literature to know it is.
In creating Star Trek, Roddenberry was inspired by the Horatio Hornblower novels, the satirical book Gulliver's Travels, and by works of western genre such as the television series Wagon Train.
On the other hand, I would have to be a professor of literature to [know] that the Bible is fiction.

Seems like your little "cause and effect" schtick is suddenly (but not surprisingly) useless.
