You can tell a lot about a new president and what his priorities are by what he makes his first priority when he takes office. His first acts as president speak volumes about what matters most to him, and they set the tone for his entire presidency.

Obama vowed to make abortion his first priority when he took office. Not to stop it, but to expand it.

Nominate a new supreme court Justice. This seems simple and doable so he might as well start with something easy. The other stuff he has said that he wants to do would require the consent of congress and this will take time.

I don't know that figuring out major policy mechanisms the night before they're due to take effect will be particularly effective, but I guess we'll see.

You think other countries are just going to let America send bus loads of people in no questions asked? How are you gunna pay for the busses? Who's gunna drive them? What protection will they have? Who's going to timetable them? We're not talking about taking a maxi-van load of kindergarteners to the beach, here. Mass logistic are more complex.
