I have questions about the "rules" and the "law" given in order to fulfill the word of the new covenant. Here are some verses I'm pondering:

Romans 3:27

What is the difference between the "law of works" and the "law of faith"? What are the "laws" of each, and how does the latter "exclude boasting"?

Romans 7:25

As above, what is the difference between the "law of God" and the "law of sin"?

Romans 8:2

The same question: what is the difference between the "law of the Spirt of life in Christ Jesus" and the "law of sin and death"; and how does the former "liberate" from the latter?

James 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

What is the "law of liberty"? Does it have "rules"? How do rules liberate? Are rules not, restrictive? Chains?

When answering, please be as specific as possible so that one might know what "rules" they are under and if they are obligated to perform these rules, and the consequence of not doing so. If one has placed themselves under a set of rules to follow, how is boasting "excluded" from one's ability to perform these rules?

Bonus question: if there is no consensus given in the thread as to the "rules" of the new covenant; how can a man be sure he is following the right rules?

Law of faith would see that you live with much faith. The just shall live by faith.

People don't really know the significance of faith, but in coming times they will know, and they will know Holiness on Earth.

If you have to know the laws more simply, then consider the laws, as laws of love.
Then when you come across the significance of having faith, you will know what law of faith means, and then you will understand. Then the truth will set you free, and then you may learn Holiness. Be ye Holy even as I am Holy. It takes time.

Should shorten that time if you know what you're looking for lul

I believe that God reveals himself over one's lifetime, so one of some age has seen more of God than younger folks. My advice: Be patient. God is pulling you out of quicksand. Many believe they are a 'clean slate' that God can write himself onto. Not so. Lot's of stuff has to erased first. If he pulls too fast he may harm you.

Another piece of advice: God is working with you personally, not you plus your family, or you plus your friends, or you plus the people at work, or even you plus your spouse. He's working with you!

Another bonus question: Why does it matter?

In order to keep a covenant, one's understanding of the terms of the covenant would matter. Without understanding the "rules" of the covenant, the covenant can't be kept.

Paul's use of 'law' in 'law of the Spirit' was ironic, but he was contrasting what preceded Christ and what the new life that Jesus brings through the Holy Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit draws us into the life of Christ. We see this after the 'fruit of the Spirit' passage in Ephesians which concludes 'against which there is no law.' You can never reduce Jesus' life and presence to a list of 'laws' of 'dos and dont's.'

The NT message is about relationship, Life, not laws and rules. The new Covenant is about new hearts i.e. desiring from within to do what is good. It is legalism that tries to reduce living to rules.

How can we comment on a Covenant that we don't have?
Romans 10:14

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

New Creations do what their FATHER in heaven says to do.
See this all through ACTS, CORINTHIANS, EPHESIANS, PHILIPPIANS, TIMOTHY, COLOSSIANS, 1 JOHN , 2 JOHN, REVELATION.

One thing they all had in common ? They didn't break the rules.
Why ?
Why did they not break the rules ?
They lived daily in union with Y'SHUA.
They lived daily in the power of resurrection life.
They followed Y'SHUA everywhere HE went, even death.

There is the Jewish Law and there is the commands of Jesus, summed up in the Great Commandments, the sermon on the mount, and Matthew 25.

Laws of nature aren't rules you follow; they are how things are guaranteed to work.
