I started with Adam, then went to 1 Chronicles, and finished with Matthew.Out of curiosity, AV, what event did you start (or end) with in your own calculations, where you said you got a similar date to Ussher?
I started with Adam, then went to 1 Chronicles, and finished with Matthew.
I just started at 4004 BC and went forward. But if you operated independently from Ussher, how did you know when to put Adam's creation?
I just started at 4004 BC and went forward.
WOWYou started from Ussher's conclusion? No wonder you got a similar date.
It was no miracle. It was sovereignly designed and created. It is still being sovereignly guided and directed today. There is no random to the world or the universe.I don't mean to steal your laughter, but others believe that the universe miraculously appeared.
And when God destroys it in the end with "fervent heat," as Peter put it, what will that be?It was no miracle. It was sovereignly designed and created. It is still being sovereignly guided and directed today. There is no random to the world or the universe.
People who promote such randomness are people who believe magic is real.
Yes.And when God destroys it in the end with "fervent heat," as Peter put it, what will that be?
Is He 'sovereignly guiding and directing' it to sudden destruction?
Well, as you might already know from my religious affiliation, I do not believe the earth is going to be literally destroyed, only the old system of the world. But whatever his will is regarding anything, it is up to him alone. And when God destroys it in the end with "fervent heat," as Peter put it, what will that be?
Is He 'sovereignly guiding and directing' it to sudden destruction?
Did I say He was going to ask for permission first? But whatever his will is regarding anything, it is up to him alone.
Is the snark really necessary?Did I say He was going to ask for permission first?
Been gone for a bit, but I see that there is still no evidence for creation presented, just attacks on evolution.
The reason cannot be more obvious.
Yes.
He is Sovereign. He does what He wills and you have no say in the matter.
1) Prayer reveals God's grace. (This may be a concept you do not understand.)Then why do Christians throughout history try to cajole Him through intercessory prayer?
1) Prayer reveals God's grace. (This may be a concept you do not understand.)
2) Prayer changes the person who prays. It puts us in sync with God.
You seem to have no grasp of grace.Codswallop. You just admitted that intercessory prayer is futile.
You seem to have no grasp of grace.
No human knows the ordinances of God. We can seek Him to act on our behalf. If it fits within His ordinance He may grant it. If it does not fit within His ordinance, He will not grant it. Either act of His Sovereign will shall bring about a blessing that changes us to be more sanctified.
This seems to be something you cannot grasp as you do not grasp the concept of grace.
Prayer changes the person who prays. It puts us in sync with God.
I'm saying that we are told to pray, but God will sovereignly determine His own action to our prayer. God will not act against His own will to appease our tears. So you're saying that it is possible, through prayer, to compel or cajole God to act in such a way that He would not have done but for the prayer?
And if I may go back to a previous gem of yours:
Meaning that every time someone says that they're going to pray for me or some other nonbeliever, (which occasionally happens after they get their posterior handed to them in these forums), it has nothing to do with the person being prayed for and everything to do with person praying... which, honestly, I sort of figured out already.
