  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

From faith to fact.

Paul is saying that whereas the Mosaic Law had previously been at the centre of his religious life, it is now Faithfulness to Christ which lies at the centre of his religious life. He most definitely does not mean that he is no longer a fallen human being.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1.8)
You have put words in Paul's mouth. In fact he elaborated to say that he (and we who are born of the same spirit of God) were crucified, died, and risen with Christ.

John, on the other hand, was addressing those "who walk in darkness."

I concur.

No, you don't concur. You claimed that God said it.
The type of evidence you seek only comes to the natural body upon death.

Prove it.
According to you, you are knowledgeable about things that only exist in your reality. I on the other hand am knowledgeable of an existence you know nothing about - though you have been told.

Being told fantasies does not make the fantasies turn into something real.

I am not putting words into Paul's mouth; I am quoting a conservative theologian by the name of R Alan Cole.

John used the word "we", which is the first person plural nominative, in case you hadn't noticed.

So, he is putting words in Paul's mouth then.

John also used the word "if", meaning the whole thing was a hypothetical for instance of a certain truth. But you have missed the point: He was speaking to those who had not been "cleansed of all sin" - the unsaved. Which does not mean that John was unsaved, nor that he was including himself, except that he spoke as one who could speak from experience.

He is a trained theologian, which is certainly more than can be said for you.

I repeat, "we" is the first person plural nominative. There is no way you can turn that into a third person "they" or a second person "you".

Of course, happy to. I have been speaking to you from such a mind: the mind of Christ.
Which is a product of your mind, if you stopped believing it would be gone, your belief is keeping it alive.
Again, that only refers to the natural body. But thanks, you seem to be very knowledgeable about the things that do not last.
Nothing lasts, everything that lives dies, the one good thing about death is no one knows they are dead, only the living know about death.

Ah, just can't get good training these days!

And you are not listening - apparently, no ears to hear.

You speak [only] of what you know.

Oh, and for the record: I don't "believe."
