You have put words in Paul's mouth. In fact he elaborated to say that he (and we who are born of the same spirit of God) were crucified, died, and risen with Christ.Paul is saying that whereas the Mosaic Law had previously been at the centre of his religious life, it is now Faithfulness to Christ which lies at the centre of his religious life. He most definitely does not mean that he is no longer a fallen human being.
"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1.8)
John, on the other hand, was addressing those "who walk in darkness."
