Jesus called me his friend. Jesus said no greater love a man has than this, to lay down his life for his friends.

Friends don't abandon each other. True friendship is about unconditional love. True love is unconditional, scripture says that love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8

You can fight love all you wish, but you'll lose in the end. Love wins, every time.

Jesus also said if you love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15). Jesus also essentially said if one looks upon a woman in lust their whole body can be cast into hell fire (Matthew 5:28-30). Love truly wins when God and His people conquer and put down evil once and for all. It is a day when only God and His righteousness reigns. For sin is not about loving God. Jesus said he that sins is a slave to sin; Jesus said no man can serve two masters.

So, love for you is conditional?

But what does scripture say about love? It says it is unconditional.

That means you must be wrong somewhere down the line in your interpretation of scripture.

Love is both conditional and unconditional. While God does love every soul of creation, God surely does not treat all people the same exact way (i.e. Love in action) because some are wicked and others are His saints (unless of course you believe in Universal Salvation or something silly).

What I'm saying is, once you are right in God's eyes, you're always right. You can't lose His love once you have it, you can't not be his friend once you are his friend, you can't not be His child once you are His child.

He says those who believe in Him are His children. He loves those who believe in Him, and he will never forsake those who do. Love never fails.

Who did Jesus call a friend?

John 15
14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Being a friend to Jesus is conditional.

John 15

He called those who believe in Him and follow Him his friends.

Taking one verse from it and not applying the whole thing, really makes you miss the whole message. Those who believe in Jesus and follow Him do what He wills. John 6:29

Btw, your debating me on this will not produce any change in me, I know what the scriptures say in regards to salvation. I'm on the rock, Christ.

Really? So I take you don't believe what Jesus said in John 15:14. Or I suppose you don't want to be called His friend by doing His commandments. If you don't believe Jesus' words in John 15:14, then you are missing the whole message.

BTW, I'm not trying to change you; you are free to believe whatever you desire. Choose wisely.

Please note: this does not include Jesus’ warnings to everyone in the 4 Gospels!

No OSAS for Christians who are slaves of sin (who habitually practice sin)
Romans 6:16-23 • "… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves)
of sin leading to (eternal) death, or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness
… so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
For when you were slaves of sin … the end of those things is (eternal) death.
… For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …" --- 3 dire warnings in 8 verses!
Romans 8:13-14 • "For if you live according to the flesh you will die (eternal death);
but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live (eternal life).
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
Through the help of the Holy Spirit, we must put to death the sinful nature.
This, of course, is all part of walking on Jesus’ narrow path (Matthew 7:13-14).
IMO, you will make it to heaven, IF you sincerely repent of (forsake) your sins!

No OSAS for Christians who do not overcome all sins of every type
Revelation 21:7-8 • “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God
and he will be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers,
sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the
lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Jesus is talking about anyone who is a habitual (unrepentant) sinner!
Revelation 3:5 • “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments,
and I will not blot out his name from the Book of (Eternal) Life …”
Revelation 3:21 • “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on My throne,
as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
Jesus did not overcome by believing He was/is the Son of God (re: 1 John 5:5).

No OSAS for Christians who do not sow and live according to the Spirit
Galatians 6:7-8 • “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption,
but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Romans 8:5-6 • "For those who LIVE according to the flesh set their minds on the
things of the flesh, but those who LIVE according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally-minded is death, but to be spiritually-minded is life and peace.”
Decide for yourself: Are these passages contrasting eternal death with eternal life?

No OSAS for Christians who do not practice righteousness
1 John 3:7 • “… let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous”
The Christian who does not practice righteousness is not righteous in God’s eyes!

No OSAS for Christians who do not love and obey Jesus
John 14:15-23 • “If you love Me, keep (obey) My commandments …
He who has My commandments and keeps (obeys) them, it is he who loves Me …
If anyone loves Me, he will keep (obey) My word …”
Good question: Does anyone get to heaven who does not love Jesus?
Hebrews 5:9 • “He (Jesus) became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”
Romans 6:16 • "… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves) of sin
leading to (eternal) death, or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness …”
James 1:12-15 • Those who endure the temptations to sin “will receive the
crown of (eternal) life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

No OSAS for Christians who draw back, fall away, do not endure in the faith, etc.
Here are just a few of those famous “conditional passages” …
1 Corinthians 15:1-2 • “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel … by which you are saved, IF you hold fast that word which I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.”
2 Corinthians 13:5 • “Examine yourself to see IF you are in the faith, unless you are disqualified.”
Hebrews 3:14 • “For we have become partakers of Christ IF we hold the beginning
of our confidence steadfast to the end.”
1 Timothy 5:16 • “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.”
Does this remind you of “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil 2:12)?
Or Paul’s concern that after preaching to others he might be disqualified (1 Cor 9:27)?

Hebrews 10:36-39 • “ ‘Now the just shall live by faith; but IF anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.’ But we are not of those who draw back to perdition,
but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”
In this last part, Paul displays his usual tactful method of softening his dire warnings
with encouragement and exhortation, and he is hopeful that none of them fall away!

Revelation 2:10 • “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of (eternal) life.”
The fun part about this is: “the crown of life” is eternal life! … Research it for yourself,
and note James 1:12-15 … he warns to not be deceived: sin brings forth eternal death.

No OSAS for Christians who don’t do what is required of them
1 Timothy 6:9-19 • “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into may foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil … Let them (rich Christians) do good, that they may be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”
If you are a Christian who desires to be rich, beware of the possible consequences!
IMO, the “good foundation for the time to come” refers to when Christians are judged.

Jude 20-21 • “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God,
looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
Our eternal life depends on Jesus’ mercy, which depends on us!
So, let us all agree: “Faith without works is dead (useless)” (James 2:20)

No OSAS for Christians who do not inherit (enter) the kingdom of God
First, these 2 passages prove that “the kingdom of God” is analogous to heaven …
Mark 9:47 • “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire”
Matthew 25:34-46 • “Come, you (the righteous) blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world … And these (the unrighteous) will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
The unrighteous (e.g. habitual sinners) will NOT inherit the kingdom of God …
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 • “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
There are several “sin lists” which keep Christians out of the kingdom and heaven.

Note: I have not included in the above Jesus’ many warnings in the 4 Gospels.

So sad that the free gift of Grace comes with strings ... according to some. It just isn't true, according to scripture. Amazing Grace is there from the precise split-second of confession (Romans 10:8-13) right on through eternity with our Blessed Savior.

The grace is free, but salvation is for those who cooperate with God's free gift.

A man reaps what he sows.

It's sad the 'grace' people don't know the whole story of grace.

Titus 2
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

Here are the 'strings' with grace - deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly, righteously, and godly.

What I'm saying is, once you are right in God's eyes, you're always right.

This is not true. Here is a list of verses that makes it absolutely clear that believers can fall away from the faith.

1 Samuel 16:14
1 Samuel 31:4
Ezekiel 18:24
Hebrews 3:12-14
Hebrews 4:11
Hebrews 6:4-9
Hebrews 10:26-30
Hebrews 12:15
1 Timothy 1:18-20
1 Timothy 4:1-7
Galatians 3:1-5
2 Peter 2:20-22
2 Peter 3:17
Matthew 13:18-23
1 Corinthians 10:12
2 Thessalonians 2:3

Now, do not misunderstand me, believers cannot lose their salvation (in the sense of like how one would misplace one's car keys), but they can forfeit their salvation (i.e. they can willingly throw it away by rebelling against God). In fact,

Here is a list of believers who have forfeited their salvation:

And here is a list of potential fallen believers:
  • Recent Convert Who is a Potential Spiritual Leader (1 Timothy 3:6)
  • Believers Whose Seed Fell Upon the Rocks (Luke 8:13)
  • The Potential Fellow Believer Who Erred From the Truth & Was Converted Back
    (James 5:19, 20)

For Jesus is the Light and we are to shine the Light of Christ within our lives. For there are those who think they can serve Jesus and also live for oneself, sin, and evil; But this is wrong, though. "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God" (John 3:20-21).

CodyFaith said:
You can't lose His love once you have it,

Jesus says if you love me, keep my Commandments (John 14:15).
"For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins," (Hebrews 10:26).
28 "He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much worse punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done insult unto the Spirit of grace?"
(Hebrews 10:28-29).
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him." (Hebrews 10:38).

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God," (1 John 4:7-8).

Is it possible to stop loving?
If so, then the Scriptures say that he that does not love does not know God.
You cannot have salvation or life in you without Christ (God) abiding in you.
1 John 5:12 says he that has the Son has life and he that does not have the Son does not have life.

CodyFaith said:
you can't not be his friend once you are his friend,

"You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:14).

CodyFaith said:
you can't not be His child once you are His child. He says those who believe in Him are His children. He loves those who believe in Him,

"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." (1 John 3:10).

In fact, a faithful believer is told that if they see a fellow believer err from the truth and they convert them back to the faith, they are to realize that they have in effect converted a sinner from their error of their ways and saved their soul from death (spiritual death) and have hid a multitude of sins. For James says,

19 "Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
(James 5:19-20).

CodyFaith said:
and he will never forsake those who do. Love never fails.

Love never fails the righteous.
The wicked will perish and or be destroyed.

The Bible defines righteousness for us.

"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous." (1 John 3:7).

1 "Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;"
(Psalms 37:1-3).

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."
(Ecclesiastes 12:13).

So, did Jesus Christ not die for the sin of lust??

Jesus died for the sins of the entire world. But that does not mean everybody is saved. A person has to accept the free gift of salvation and repent of their sins. A person cannot remain in unrepentant sin and think they are saved. For it would make them no different than the wicked because they are working evil and sin, too. A belief alone does not really make a person better morally in any way. God is not going to save immoral people who have a belief alone. That wouldn't make any sense. God is good and His people are good (in the sense that their behavior is good), too. If not, then God would have saved even the wicked. For believing on Jesus Christ is also a Commandment (1 John 3:23). So if you are not under any kind of Law, then you are not under the Command that tells you that you have to believe on Jesus. It is illogical to think that evil people (who are currently living evil) are going to be in Heaven. It goes against every concept of what we know to be right and good. For how do you even know right from wrong? Do you have a standard of morality?

Believing on Jesus also implies believing on everything He said and did, too. If not, then you are not really believing Jesus. How so? Peter desired to come out to meet Jesus on the water and Jesus said, "Come."

Yet, Peter sank into the water and Jesus said to Peter, "Oh, you of little faith, wherefore did you doubt?" (See Matthew 14:22-33).

Having a lack of faith is having a lack of belief in Jesus. Peter was not truly trusting in the Lord in what He said.

Jesus says, "Why do you call me Lord, Lord if you do not do the things that I say?" (Luke 6:46).

What does it say the will of God is? To believe.

The problem with quoting verses out of context is that it results in interpretations that contradict the rest of scripture.

Scripture says God's will involves more than just believing something about Jesus:

John 9:32
We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.

Acts 20:27
For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.

Ephesians 6:6
Obey... doing the will of God from your heart.

1 Thessalonians 4:3
It is God’s will... that you should avoid sexual immorality

I said this:
"So, did Jesus Christ not die for the sin of lust??"
Jesus died for the sins of the entire world.
Then lust cannot send one to hell. Simple as that. Or whatever Jesus did for the sins of the world wasn't enough.

But that does not mean everybody is saved.
My question doesn't lead to that erroneous conclusion.

[QUTOE] A person has to accept the free gift of salvation and repent of their sins. A person cannot remain in unrepentant sin and think they are saved.[/QUOTE]
There error here is to think that salvation is removed if one doesn't repent for sins committed after receiving salvation. You've just admitted that Jesus died for the sins of the world. That means He paid the penalty or debt for every sin. So how can one be held accountable for sins already paid for?? Your view isn't making sense.

For it would make them no different than the wicked because they are working evil and sin, too.
Wrong. The difference is that the believer is a "new creation", with a new spirit within them, and the Holy Spirit indwelling them. And they have eternal life. Which cannot die.

A belief alone does not really make a person better morally in any way.
No one said it did either.

God is not going to save immoral people who have a belief alone.
So your theology is faith plus be good. That is legalism. And unbiblical.

That wouldn't make any sense.
Correct. Your theology doesn't make any sense.

God is good and His people are good (in the sense that their behavior is good), too.
Saul was not good. Yet he joined Samuel in Paradise.

If not, then God would have saved even the wicked.
Why don't you think God saves the wicked? What did Jesus say?

For whom did Jesus come to save? The the ungodly, and sinners.

1 Peter 3:18
For Christ died for sins once FOR ALL, the righteous (Christ) for the unrighteous (humanity, all of them), to bring you to God.

Rom 5:6
You see, just at the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

Love truly wins when God and His people conquer and put down evil once and for all. It is a day when only God and His righteousness reigns. For sin is not about loving God. Jesus said he that sins is a slave to sin; Jesus said no man can serve two masters.

...

This is pure legalism.

Your problem is this...if you fail to keep one of Jesus' commandments....you lose. Just imagine if you don't keep 3 or 4 of them.

I wouldn't call God's word legalism.

It doesn't say with perfection. If you love God you will choose to keep the commandments so any disobedience would be due to less then full knowledge or consent.

You shouldn't reject God's word just because you don't understand it.
