I am having to search for a new church because work schedule has changed and I now work on Sunday mornings. The Lutheran church that I was attending does not have a Saturday evening service nor do any of the Lutheran Churches around me that I would attend. They also do not have a mid-week service and the Bible study that they do have is in the mornings on Monday and Tuesday and I work those mornings. My days off are Friday and Saturday. Besides, Bible study is not the same as a service to me.

The church that my soon-to-be ex-wife attends was an option as I have been there and do like it, but they no longer have a Saturday service.

So what I have found was a Southern Baptist church that does have Sunday evening service as well as a Wednesday evening service.

How different is Southern Baptist doctrine compared to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod doctrine? Is it like night and day?

Probably not night and day, but there will be some differences. Each church will have its own unique personality, but here are the basics:

Southern Baptists: http://www.sbc.net/aboutus/basicbeliefs.asp

Missouri Synod Lutherans: http://www.lcms.org/doctrine/doctrinalposition

The Sunday evening service of a smaller Southern Baptist church will probably be more of a Bible study (perhaps expository in nature) rather than a typical Sunday morning Lutheran sermon which will probably be more of a life application message.

Obviously, the two churches will differ on baptism.

I have been baptized by immersion, so that is not an issue for me.

Do you have a personal testimony of salvation (prior to your immersion baptism)?

Well, I was raised Catholic, left the Catholic church in my teens and didn't attend church for many years. Met my wife here in Florida and through her I found the love of Jesus and started attending church again, but was in and out of different churches/denominations. One night at a church that we attended there was a call for those that have never given their life to Jesus and made Him lord and savior to raise your hand and receive His free gift of salvation. I had an overwhelming urge to do just that. Before that service I had been reading the Bible for several months.

About 7 months later while at my wife's old church (Pentecostal leaning non-denominational) that she was attending they had a Baptism day at one of the local lakes. We went in support of those there. After the pastor was done, he asked if anyone would like to join them in the lake for prayer who was dressed to get wet. I wasn't really dressed to get wet as I was in jeans and a polo. None-the-less I told him that I would join. He told me no several times as I wasn't dressed for the occasion, but I told him it was no bother and ran right into the lake. When I got out there, he told me that my faith was great and I acted just like Peter and he Baptized me right then and there in the name of the father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I realize that I added my Baptismal day, but I was on a roll writing and just kept going.

Well I've gone to Baptist church all my life but in recent years I have grown to appreciate the LCMS Lutheran theology. I'm fact I was listening to a Lutheran service on Sunday morning since I was unable to attend church. The differences are vast in s one ways but quite similar enough theologically that both sides are brothers in Christ. with Baptist baptism and the Communion are completely symbolic. Every church is purely autonomous. There is no Southern Baptist board that can tell a church how to act, though they could kick them out of the convention.

Baptist and Lutherans don't see quite eye to eye but there is enough similarities doctrinally where they speak at the same conferences at times.
