• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Take a look at this chart:

hominids2_big.jpg

Assuming they are in chronological order, how many generations passed from A to N?

Please keep in mind I'm looking for a number, not a paragraph.

Are they all Direct Descendants of each other?
Who knows?

Does it matter?

How many generations between George Washington and George Washington Carver?

Who knows?
Don't know who would know, I'd suggest researching it, but you might learn something that way, and we know how you feel about learning.
No, thanks.

Please don't preach "learning" to me, agnostic.

I've seen what learning does to you guys, and I want no part of it.

Does it matter?
Yes as pointed out in the post where you ignored the second half

How many generations between George Washington and George Washington Carver?
Not part of OP question really.

PGP, is there something I can help you with?

I asked for a number, not a paragraph.

I was even kind enough to ask you if you cared to guess?

I'm not interested in how ignorant you are.

I'm just as ignorant -- if not more.

But I'm willing to at least supply a number, and even how I ascertain it.

For the second time: do you care to guess?

If not ... well ... thanks for ... nothing.

Doubt it, but if I do need your help with something, I'll be sure to ask.

I asked for a number, not a paragraph.

I was even kind enough to ask you if you cared to guess?
And I answered why I won't as it's an invalid question.

I'm just as ignorant -- if not more.

But I'm willing to at least supply a number, and even how I ascertain it.

If not ... well ... thanks for ... nothing.
As stated above it's an invalid question.
But you're welcome.

Well, seeing as A belongs to a present day chimpanzee, and N belongs to a present day human, approximately none.

Since you have the numbers you can do the math. Most scientists use 20 to 25 years per generation. Take the span you are interested in and divide by 25.

You can't get exact without one being a direct descendant of the other (and it doesn't help that Carver's birth date is unknown), but between 6 and 7 generations between them.

The answer to the meaning of life, but only because the question asked wasn't specific enough.
That couldn't have anything with the computer being blown up?
