Since you have the numbers you can do the math. Most scientists use 20 to 25 years per generation. Take the span you are interested in and divide by 25.

You can't get exact without one being a direct descendant of the other (and it doesn't help that Carver's birth date is unknown), but between 6 and 7 generations between them.
