  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the greatest evidence against the theory of evolution...?

Where did you show that those conclusions are wrong?
I have no reason to believe that your conclusions are right. I still don't even see evolution as being a viable explanation for the supposed common ancestor of chimps and humans, let alone all life we see. Mutation really is the best explanation when you don't believe in God, and that's just laughable.

Well, I guess I should just believe inheritance is the answer then? Sorry, I won't.

Because you are convinced that your interpretation of the Bible cannot be wrong?

Let's ignore the incredible complexity of the eye ...

That hasn't been ignored since Darwin wrote about it, rather famously,
since his writing on the matter is frequently misquoted.

The complexity hasn't just just been discovered, as some sort of new knock-down argument against evolution.
Which it isn't.

Actually, I think pretty highly of God's Word. I refuse to believe the Godless theory of evolution.

No, you think highly of your interpretation of "God's Word." There are plenty of Christians who have no problem harmonizing the Bible with evolution.

Yeah, and I disagree with them. I think the Bible means what it says in Genesis. I know that God will not criticize me for believing His Word.

Besides - according to evolution your reasoning is flawed, since humans are the pinnacle of evolution - the most advanced. The octopus eye is less advanced, and therefore inferior - but I guess we'll disregard simple to complex in this discussion of superiority and evolution from water to land.

Oh my giddy aunt.
I had hoped that had gone extinct.

Perhaps there were some misguided textbooks once which portrayed humanity as "the pinnacle of evolution".
Be that as it may, the concept and myth seems to survive attempts to kill it off.
Humanity is not a pinnacle of evolution, we are not "the most evolved" we are not at the top of any ladder, evolution has not been working towards or aiming at producing humanity... or ANY variation on this.

No, I never said that. I just believe God's Word over man's is all. What's the point of believing in a creator who didn't create? God gave us an account of creation, and so I believe it. I don't need to twist the Bible to fit man's theories into it.

They have huge problems with that, but they live with it.

I have no reason to believe that your conclusions are right.

How are the patterns of shared ERV's inconsistent with common ancestry?

Mutation really is the best explanation when you don't believe in God, and that's just laughable.

The lack of evidence for God is why I don't believe in God.

And as I've already stated, you believe YOUR INTERPRETATION of the Bible. Communication requires comprehension of at least two parties. What if God's Word is true, but you haven't interpreted it correctly? You are placing infallible faith, not only in god, but in yourself.

If observations of life contradict what you believe about the Bible, then perhaps it is not the Bible that needs to be twisted, but your understanding of it. For example, maybe that isn't quite what so and so meant, since observing god's creation tells me something different.
