  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is no evidence againts the Theory of Evolution.

The answer is yes but I consider Darwin to be lazy because he should have done what Charles Lyell did to reconcile his faith with his science. Over the years others have done that for him. He did get the ball rolling and did get people thinking. All things considered you can not blame him for wanting to avoid some of the controversy.

You tried to claim that Darwin was wrong, but now you agree that Darwin was right?

What is mutation theory, and how is it wrong? Or are you saying that mutation theory is right?

Darwin, Joshua 19, believed in God, actually spoke of God about nine times in his "Origins," believed that God was essential to start the ball rolling. Like any true believer, he did find it difficult to reconcile belief in a loving God with the reality of brutality in the world. And that is a very tough for anyone to try and resolve. If you want to quickly shipwreck someone's theology, the thing to do is point to the reality of evil in the world and ask how you can square that with a loving God.

Well, you sure couldn't prove that by me, Extraneous. On my end of it, it appears you haven't even touched on the at issue. Maybe I missed something, but I sure didn't see anything like that in any of your posts.

Why would i need to prove anything to you? Christians are not seeking mans praise but Gods praise. The opinion of a random poster on the internet makes no difference to me.

Yes, I suppose it's been like all the "crunching" and "tweaking" and "force-fitting" that has enabled us to grow enough food to feed the planet, to permit you to fly around the globe, to eradicate smallpox, to protect your children from a variety of diseases, to provide you with a comfortable domicile, to allow you to drive that horseless wagon in your garage, to enable us to stand on the moon and to land on Mars.

Oh..........and to provide you with a computer, on which you can now compose a smart aleck reply.

Amazing how all that trickery and conspiring just happened to achieve all that isn't it?

Wouldn't 'development' be a better term than 'evolution'?

OK, Extraneous, but the truth of the matter is that your faith is based on your interpretation, the picture your imagination painted of Christ. So how can you be sure it is at all correct?
If he is wrong, he will answer to God in the end -- not Darwin.

Just as you will answer to Zeus for not sacrificing enough bulls.
Actually, Zeus will answer to us.

If there was it would mean the ToE was wrong.

Evidence is information that indicates that something is true. There is evidence that indicates that ToE is true, which is why there are people that believe that ToE is true and there likewise is evidence that indicates that ToE is false, which is why there are people who believe that ToE is false. Denying that there is evidence against ToE would essentially be saying that the belief that ToE is false is uncaused.

Then God will answer to me.
You better have the right number.

It's Jeremiah 333.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Then God will answer to me.

Friend, putting science aside, consider that God offers us peace with Him through his grace, and offers us eternal life. There is no reason you cannot believe in the Lord and hope in those things too. I hope you would consider that. Its difficult for us all, having things to disagree over, but in the end we all need God. Please dont rule out God, because hes much more than we can hope for in the temporary life.

Have you ever looked at what Zeus offers, or Vishnu?

There is no reason you cannot believe in the Lord and hope in those things too.

There is no reason why you can't believe in Zeus and win his favor with the sacrifice of a bull.

I hope you would consider that. Its difficult for us all, having things to disagree over, but in the end we all need God. Please dont rule out God, because hes much more than we can hope for in the temporary life.

Just as you need Zeus.

It sounds like you don't want to answer to Zeus because you want to live a sinful lifestyle.
As far as Zeus is concerned, that's about right.
