  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the greatest evidence against the theory of evolution...?

Can you deny that their on to something?
Theyŕe on to theosophy, a.k.a. Luciferianism.
It's the attractive suggestion of the serpent, just like in Genesis 3.
Shockingly, very little has changed...

Heliocentrism didn't make sense to the Pope.
I am not going to put any effort into trying to figure out what your point might be. The Catholic church does just fine when it comes to science. There is no problem there at all. Those guys are pretty well educated in that regard.

Copping out of the cop out.... :D

Asking for evidence is not a cop out. Making empty assertions and refusing to present evidence is a cop out.

Do you really think an unbiased position is one where you just assume that assertions are true without any evidence to back them?

Consider this to help you understand. Whatever experiences amounted to you being a theist, atheists must either have perceived such experiences differently than you did, or not had them at all. For example, I wasn't indoctrinated as a child, and most theists are to some extent. If you told the story of Santa Claus to someone who had never heard it that was an adult, they'd be far less likely to believe it than a child told the story for the first time.

Also, if you do experience a conversation with another being when you pray, I have never experienced that while praying. Not once.

What about Egyptian chariot wheels found on the bottom of the Red Sea? Or the Dead Sea Scrolls, before they found them, people thought the copies that they had then were so accurate that doubters and non-believers concluded that they had to be written after the fact, then the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and shattered that, but what happened to the belief of the accuracy of the writings?

God Bless!

They weren't. Ron Wyatt is a crackpot, and even most Christian organizations advise to avoid him. Seriously, read up on him.

Ron Wyatt is widely regarded as a charlatan, even among Christians. This is a good article about Ron Wyatt written by a Christian as a warning to other Christians:

"One of the individuals who I interviewed, who lost approximately 30,000 thousand dollars to Ron Wyatt, went to Israel with him, supposedly to see some of these sights and record them on film. An assignment editor of a major television station in Nasheville went with them. Not only did this individual not see any of these incredible discoveries, but his wife was told by one of Ron Wyatt's sons that the chariot wheels that Ron supposedly discovered in the Gulf of Aqaba were planted there by Ron. Mr. Wyatt gave this couple some coins which he supposedly found at the Ark of the Covenant site. Again, one of Wyatt's sons informed the wife that Wyatt bought those coins. Gentle, soft-spoken Ron verbally abused an Arab car rental agent when the agent told Mr. Wyatt that his son was to young to drive the vehicle."

There are written religious myths that predate the Dead Sea scrolls. For example, we have a copy of the Enuma Elis from
7th century BC. It is 400 years older than the Dead Sea scrolls, so does that make the Enuma Elis more accurate than the Dead Sea scrolls? We can still find accurate copies of Don Quixote centuries later. Does that mean the stories in those books are true?

I love what my pulpit-pounding preacher said about that.

He mentioned that in one of his sermons on Moses crossing the Red Sea, but he stipulated:

"They claim to have found chariot wheels on the bottom of the Red Sea ... not that we require evidence, though. We walk by faith. After all, the Bible says it, and that's good enough for us."

I'm not sure what you're talking about here.

It is a well established fact in biology that organisms can adapt to their environment, it s sometimes referred to as "micro-evolution", which is not accurate, because it doesn't involve mutations.
Sure, species can go extinct or be decimated.

Could you please outline the mechanism by which some adult humans are tolerant to lactose, while others are not?
