  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I suspect the average OT scholar has a knowledge of Hebrew which out classes yours. So if he thinks the Hebrew word should be translated "wild oxen," I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Will you also give these * cough * scholars * cough * the benefit of the doubt that the Tabernacle in the Wilderness was covered with curtains made from sea cows?

Wouldn't be the weirdest thing in a religious text.

So if somebody believes in the possibility of the miraculous or supernatural, they can know nothing about Hebrew.

Well, surely if a prehistoric ape can learn to speak so can a donkey.

Donkey's have nowhere near the vocal cords or appropriate mouth shape for this to occur. Please remember, populations evolve, not individuals. A population of apes learned how to speak as they evolved.

That's funny, I thought it was a present day member of the great ape family which had developed the necessary vocal cords.

Yes i understand that. If the dead do not rise then why waste your days on the internet arguing over ToE with people who believe in speaking donkeys? I could think of much better things to do with my limited days.

Helping other people is a waste of time in your view?

Maybe I'm speaking to one now?

No sir, im just a man, nothing more, just a man who fears God and is thankful for the Resurrection of the dead, and for Gods mercy which is new every morning.

Maybe you could live your life in such a way as to not require daily mercies?

Just a suggestion.

What good is it to waste your life arguing with people? At least a Christian sees a purpose in it. However, if i were an atheist i wouldn't bother, because life is short.

Well maybe that's your problem, then. Quit trying to be "perfect," and just be the best human you can be.

They are the same thing, in my opinion. Trying to be the best person one can be is to strive for perfection. To try being only half perfect is not trying to be the best.
