  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why? It fits the Biblical description, doesn't it?
I have a feeling there's more to a unicorn than just a single horn.

We don't know what the rest of it looks like; and I suspect it would be quite different from a rhinoceros.

HOWEVER, if it is what is called a rhinoceros today, then it's just another example of science plutoing a term in the Bible to suit their philosophy and make it look good on paper.

Sure, Rhinoceros do indeed exist. (uni = one, corn = horn). There are one horned Rhinoceros.
Narwhals have one horn too.

And for the record, other than unbelievers, who says it's a "horn"?

It could be an antler, or maybe cartilage.

Too bad there's no one around to clear things up.

Unless you can give a definition, your feelings mean nothing.

I don't need to give a definition.

You guys are the ones who lose sleep over it.

It is not clear what the unicorn in the Bible was, but it was apparently a real animal at the time.
One horned rhino's is a possibility.

Most modern versions translate it "wild oxen".

Well, that's a lie. You're the one starting threads on it.

Yes, i came across that too, but i haven't found anything about the original texts yet.

The horns of many bovines do look as one part though, a bit like a bike handlebar.
There are mutations too:

In time this species might evolve into aeroplanes.

Didn't gerbils have unicorn horns at one time?
What does a unicorn horn look like anyway?

Assuming it is a horn ... and not an antler or cartilage or whatever ... why do people assume it is something in existence today?

If you can't tell me what specific animal was plutoed from "unicorn" via the scientific process, then your chatter don't matter.

You're all just guessing.

And in my opinion, you're all wrong.

I suspect the average OT scholar has a knowledge of Hebrew which outclasses yours. So if he thinks the Hebrew word should be translated "wild oxen," I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
