This is going to be an interesting thread and my intention isn't to freak anyone out, or offend someone. I have recently discovered someone very close to me is dealing with a lot of mental issues. Basically they are having sexual issues were they enjoy fantasizing about rape, gynophagia, etc...just a lot of really sick fantasies. I don't feel threatened by them since they say it is all in there head, but I am concerned this may escalate at some point. Can someone be a Christian and enjoy these kinds of fantasies? Should I stay, or break all contact with this person and possibly inform mental health services?

God instructed us to meditate on His word, but while it is not Godly to meditate on such things as you mention in your post, this does not mean that this person can't be a Christian - although if they are reborn in Christ, it means that they are an ignorant Christian.

Php 4:8 KJV
(8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

2Co 10:3-6 KJV
(3) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(4) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
(5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
(6) And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Rom 12:1-2 KJV
(1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
(2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1Co 15:56 KJV
(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

reminding them that these things are unGodly will only strengthen their desire; minister the gospel to them, and encourage them resist such thoughts by replacing them with thoughts of the good news of God's word for those who believe. the mental health industry may be able to drug them to the point where they no longer meditate on anything, but this will not help them overcome this problem - faith in God's word heals, while the medical industry merely treats symptoms; and they haven't followed through with any of these fantasies to the best of your knowledge, right?

Yes. Just in there head. I guess I just don't understand the underlying issues to these fantasies, I guess I overreacted perhaps.

Inform mental health services that, what, this person is having fantasies about unacceptable and unrealistic sexual relationships?

...and then the rest of the planet as well, or what?

It sounds like you and your friend have already talked about this, otherwise you would not know about it. You might want to talk to him again, and find out whether he is stable enough to request help on his own if he has thoughts or desires of making his fantasies a reality. In fact, you might want to find out if he is currently seeking therapy for these things on his own. If he is mentally unstable, he might not be able to recognize where that line is between fantasy and reality. Don't report him (at this point) but do talk to him about seeking help on his own.

If someone is a christian and they are having mental health issues they may be under satanic attack and actually be listening to lies and having thoughts that shouldn't be there in their mind. The best thing is to get them or invite them to focus on scripture to remind them of WHO they are in Christ.

Pray for them and show them how to rebuke these evil thoughts. When a christian knows how to submit to God and RESIST the devil then satan can no longer attack them.

If this person isn't a christian then stay away but I would pray for them anyway that they know the truth, as once they know the truth they can be set free...you didn't mention if they were and said they 'enjoyed' those thoughts, well, a christian wouldn't. A christian might have these thoughts but KNOW they are wrong and ungodly. An unbeliever in darkness may not. If that is the case shine the light so that they are drawn to Jesus instead.
