  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You do realize that the initial demand by the Hebrews was to be gone for 3 days for worship.
God said let my people go. He did not mean 3 days either. He meant let them go or else. Period. His terms are unconditional surrender.

Also, anyone who wouldn't be willing to give in to all the demands by the time all cattle were dying and frogs rained from the sky would have to be insane.
They were insane all along it took all the plagues to help you see it. To fight God is insanity...so called science is insane.

It is also stated that God hardens the man's heart, so...
At a cetain point God allows or even helps man along his merry way of departing from His life and spirit.

No, I am talking about the Pharaoh specifically. God hardens his heart in the bible. God doesn't give the pharaoh the option of letting his people go before all the plagues hit.

Ha...scurry to distance yourself from one of your own prophets.
Stephan Hawking is a physics guy. My scientific field of study is biology. I am barely familiar with his work. Either way, his specialty is not knowledge about environmental changes. You wouldn't trust a medical doctor to fix your plumbing, now would you?

Fine we should listen just to the bio boys...? They want to kill babies en masse, some of them! They make Hawking look peaceful and sane.

"Ehrlich holds that increasing populations and affluence are putting more and more pressure on the global environment in many different fields, from loss of biodiversity, overfishing, global warming, to urbanization, chemical pollution and competition for raw materials.[34] He maintains that in light of growing global incomes, reducing consumption and human population is critical to protecting the environment and maintaining living standards, and that current rates of growth are still too high for a sustainable future."

" On the first Earth Day in 1970, he warned that "n ten years all important animal life in the sea will be extinct. Large areas of coastline will have to be evacuated because of the stench of dead fish."[5][25] In a 1971 speech, he predicted that: "By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people." "If I were a gambler," Professor Ehrlich concluded before boarding his plane, " I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000."

You do realize that there is little correlation to being in a scientific field and position on abortion, right? Heck, plenty of atheists are against abortion, it isn't a matter of religious belief.

I would take any estimate of when earth will no longer be habitable with a tub full of salt. And that's for people in environmental sciences. Just by your quote, I can see some gaps in Hawking's understanding of how making these predictions works. He made an error of using current consumption rates for the whole time period of between now and 1000 years. This is ridiculous, considering the fact that those rates change every year.

People can make ridiculous claims. I recognized that Hawking's claim fell within that category. I am not saying he has nothing to say of worth on the matter; he might. What I am saying is that he does not have expert status on this topic, thus making his word on it not that much more significant than that of the average person with some interest in the environment.

God is against it and so are those who know Him.

"Americans with no religious attachment (self-identified atheists, agnostics, and those with simply no religious preference) identify as pro-choice by a 49-percentage-point margin over pro-life, 68% to 19%. This represents the strongest propensity toward the pro-choice position of any major U.S. demographic (as distinct from political) subgroup."

http://www.gallup.com/poll/154946/non-christians-postgrads-highly-pro-choice.aspx

Obviously the education system is producing godless murderers. The so called christians engaging in killing babies are either nominal only ones, or deceived, unless there is some true dire medical emergency involved.

I take everything so called science says with a bathtub full of salt.

I agree. Ridiculous.

Don't bring that up; the bible states that the pharaoh long wanted to free the Jews, but that God was preventing him from doing it. The poor guy even cries about how he is not in control.
Cool! I missed that part. Give me the address of those verses. I gotta see that. (please)

Cool. I thought pretty much the same thing about Hawking. I have some atheist friends.
They all seem to be familiar with the golden rule which is about the exact same thing as the second of the two greatest commandments.

God ordered Moses to lie to pharaoh?

The initial plan was to have them go 3 days apparently. However the lying Pharaoh ruined that one, so that was no longer the plan..or might I say the start of the plan.

28 And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me. 29 And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.

32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

He had to learn, you really do not want to pee off the Lord.

LOL! Me too.
"Science" the noun, requires modifying adjectives these days;
Popular
Corporate
Academic
Political
Etc.
Right...and that is just the actual science. The so called sciences that claim to deal in creation issues requires modifying adjectives these days;

Phony - fables - filthy dreamers - stargazers - magicians - con artists - dishonest - etc.

Sounds like the one fibbing here is you -- or possibly God:

You can't keep your own stories straight, can you?

28 And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me. 29 And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.

32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

Sounds like Pharaoh was agreeable until Moses deliberately antagonized him.

Or was it God who did it?

Either way, if the story is true, Mo's peeps were gettin' the short end of the deal, which puts pharaoh much further into fraud and coercion. I can't argue that professing Christians don't include some knuckleheads, but Mo was pretty right on... didn't you see the movie?

Enjoy cognac? I'm having a "nightcap".

Mo asked Pharaoh for exactly what God told him to ask for at first, no more, no less -- Exodus 3:18 -- knowing full well that Pharaoh wouldn't believe it for a second.

So sayeth the Lost Scrolls: "And after Moses asked for all the slaves of Egypt to be allowed to leave... but yea, only for three days, after which they'd all come right back to work -- scout's honor! -- Pharaoh, having not recently fallen off the turnip truck, smelleth a rat."

LOL! Good..
He might've been catching a whiff of himself...
I was the designer in a huge sign shop for ten years One of the sheet metal workers told me that the old man who was boss would sneak around and peek in the windows to see if anybody was cheating him... because he assumed everybody was as dishonest as he. Get my drift?

And besides, if a lie is all it takes to free some slaves.... what's yet beef?
