Rick Warren. He has made some changes recently. What do you think?

Rick Warren, he says he is a Southern Baptist. I read one of his first books THE PURPOSE DRIVE LIFE for a home Bible study when it first came out. I did not like it at all. I felt he twisted things is using 10 different Bibles. Then he said NOTHING new. I felt he was liberal back then.

But now he has gone to a Catholic conference and was a key note speaker. I personally think he has crossed the line and had no business being there.

Going to a Catholic conference and being a keynote speaker doesn't mean he crossed the line. There are certain pastors I think make good motivational speakers, but make terrible preachers. Rick Warren is one. I'm not convinced he has changed from the first day he decided to become a pastor. He's still the same guy being Rick Warren. But he is a lousy pastor. Ironically, his wife preached at my previous church, and despite my stance on women preachers, she did a better job than any seeker sensitive pastor I've ever known.

Perhaps what I am more concerned about is what he said. In my opinion he crossed a line that says there is no reason for Catholic and Protestant not to work in becoming one denominations. Which is highly stupid.

Highly stupid? I don't think so. "Highly stupid" comes nowhere close to describing the betrayal of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is no great wonder since he betrayed the Gospel of Christ many years ago. He can desire to be united with Roman Catholics easily because he doesn't believe anything substantial anyway. His theology is not far from theirs.

(2Co 11:13) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

(2Co 11:14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

(2Co 11:15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Rick Warren is another false teacher who crossed the line a long time back. Beware of false teachers.

I don't think its surprising.
I don't know him personally, but did hear he was interested in all religions. At one point heard he was talking about 'chrislam'.

Some people use religion as a way to earn a living, which is basically what I got from 'the purpose driven life' in a very subtle way. Not sure about the links with the Southern Baptists, I presume that was what he grew up with. His church that he pastors is in Orange County, which is the wealthiest part of Southern California, so, I don't know if that still counts as 'southern'. Using ten different bible translations snippets to back up whatever you want to say is not just what Warren does, a lot of other professed believers do that too.

Very cleaver of you to notice. He used these many versions because each one he used said what he wanted to day. I can teach / preach out of one and do a fair job for jesus.

When was this he said something and where?

In a sense, he is a voice of many Christians. You can't have his popularity and be an isolated viewpoint. Even in Baptist churches.

Rick Warren now hold the record for speaking at a Catholic conference, first time ever a Protestant has spoken to Catholics. He agrees with the Pope that the God of Islam and Judaism and Christianity are all the same God. That is a HUGE disqualifier for him to be a Pastor of a Southern Baptist Church, as I see it. He uses so many issues and things to point things in a direction he wants to make it go. In the PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE he uses no less than 10 different translations of the Bible, to get verses to say just what he wants them to say. In taking verses out of context with ten different bibles you ought to get the Bible to say just about anything you want it to say. NOT GOOD!!!

well. You can keep going on your crusade against Rick Warren or you can just focus on your walk with God.

There will be false teachers in churches wherever you go, it was so even in the early church. Mark them, then avoid them. If you don't attend his church then you have no problem. As baptists do have autonomy in local churches.

What is the crusade against Rick Warren?

Then you talk about false preachers, say that a Christian should mark them and in the next sentence you say 'if you don't attend his church then you have no problem'. Does Jesus say we are not to look out for others? Love our neighbor? Why is it if you do not go to his church, then you have no problem?

What has been said in this thread that you think has been a 'crusade' against him?
