I thought it was quite obvious to anyone that I was talking about reality that can be experienced. A blind person can still hear, smell, touch, taste...

A blind man cannot see, hear, smell, touch or taste the stars.

And these experiences can be experienced by others. If a blind person tells me that the liquid he drank is cold, I can also sip it and feel the coldness for myself.

This simply demonstrates that there is more than one way to experience reality.

The blind man only has four working senses and you only have five.

Perhaps five is not enough to experience God, just as four is not enough for the blind man to experience the stars.

It is this testable and verifiable experience that is the hallmark of reality. And it is something that no religion has ever had.

Christianity exists because of testable and verifiable experiences. We Christians preformed the tests and we all experience the same results. This is why we are Christians and not atheists.

You are unable to verify those experiences either because you do not know how to perform the tests or because you do not understand the results.

This would explain why atheism is a minority position, it's because you have a myopic view of reality.

Dad, the fact o f the matter is that Christianity may have been partially responsible for our environmental problems. Historically Christianity took a very dim view of teh material order. It was as something to be put underfoot, something less than holy, a disgraced realm. This was due to the early influx of certain schools of Hellenic metaphysics which viewed the material world of time and change as something inherently evil. At the same time, you had the doctrine of election. True, major fathers such as Calvin argued you really could not tell who were the elect and the reprobate. However, they did believe in signs of election. This came to mean that wealth was a sign of election. in turn, that meant get out there and build, be a real capitalist, pump up industry. You might want t read sometime Weber's "The Protestant Ethic and teh Spirit of Capitalism."
