  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because God is a God of truth.

True - He gave us the Bible - and He calls it the "Word of God".

But the devil said in Gen "did God really say not to eat of that tree?" --

The practice of shaving off and sniping away at God's Word -- started a long time ago.
Notice that the devil does an "empirical" experiment with Eve. He demonstrates that both touching and eating the apple will not kill.

His argument against the truth of God's Word - was very impressive in the short term. In the long view he was proven to be a liar - but right there on the spot - he had some pretty good "proofs".

God gave us our minds in order to understand the universe and its workings, and that we may understand Him.

But He did not give us the directive to call Him a liar and then "make up fraud rich, hoax-based stories" about how God's-Word might be fiction.

Those who believe in the unscientific - virgin birth, and the unscientific bodily resurrection, and the unscientific incarnation, and the unscientific second coming, and the unscientific works done by Paul -- are likely in some cases to also believe -- the rest of the Word of God.

Here we have legal code - that OH might be willing to gloss over - but not me.

That legal code - etched in stone - is not written in the form of "fiction"

"11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

He has given us evidence that creation of all life on earth is ancient - and is about 6000 years -- ancient.

But the nothing proves life on earth for 13 billion years

age of creation.

The God portrayed by a old earth is a conjurer, a purveyor of cheap tricks filled with a history rich in fraud, hoax and junk science like Nebraska man, Piltdown man, Othaniel Marsh's fraudulent horse series. The list is long. And the hoaxes carried forward for decade after decade as the "BEST" example of the hopes of blind-faith evolutionism faithful believers seen in nature.

Atheists will often describe the Bible -- in a very common way -
. I wouldn't want to worship a God who magicked the world into its current state while He tells us it's much older.

And we also need to remember that the creation account in Genesis (including Adam and Eve and the flood) is shared by almost every middle Eastern religion, current and forgotten. The people of the area had no idea how everything came into being, and so they thought up an explanation.

By contrast here is what God says about the Bible.

"ALL scripture is given by inspiration from God" 2Tim 3:16
2Peter 1 -
19 So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Just a note to interject before the mods do....getting into "proof" of the age of the earth, or even discussing young vs old is a topic for a different forum. So let's not get too far down that line of thinking :)

Actually - this thread is in "origins theology" - in this "origins" section of the forum - you can talk about the age of the earth all day long.

The current Earth is some 4.6 Billion years old in man's time, but about a Day old in God's time. Our Solar system did not form until Billions of years after the beginning.

The beginning of our cosmos was when Jesus caused a singularity, thus scattering energy throughout our Universe on the 3rd Day, the same Day Adam's Earth was made. Gen 2:4 He did this by causing a singularity but the Stars didn't light up until the NEXT Day, God's 4th Day or Age, which was some 13.77 Billion years ago, in man's time. Gravity had to cause the first Stars to accumulate, and to exert enough pressure to light up their fusion furnaces.

Science announced in October, 2015 that it was some 560 Million years AFTER the Big Bang until the first Stars lit up the NEXT Day. Does this give anyone an idea of the enormous amount of man's time it takes, to make just One Day to God?

Or we could just stick with what the Bible says about it - "THE EARTH was formless and void with water covering the face of the deep" -- BEFORE God created light for this region of space - our solar system.

Since Jesus is the Light of the first Day. You have confused the Scriptural fact that God created the air, and the ground without form, or dust, BEFORE the first Day. Everything else came from these two creation elements, including the water, which came from the air. Jesus came forth from within the Trinity into the physical world. He is the Light of the first Day that He might have preeminence or first place in everything. Col 1:18 He will take the air, dust and water and shape the perfect 3rd Heaven, physically. Amen?

If the earth formed the same day as the Big Bang, on the 3rd day, what happened on day 1 and day 2? There was nothing before the Big Bang.

Planck discovered in Oct/15 that it was some 560 Million years after the Big Bang before the first Stars formed and lit up. The BB was on the 3rd Day Gen 2:4 and the Stars lit up on the 4th Day. Gen 1:16 It was late on the 3rd Day since it was less than a Billion years after the BB when the first Stars lit up and EACH DAY/AGE is some 4-5 Billion years in length in man's time.

Day 1 was when Jesus came into the physical world from within the invisible Spirit of God.
Day 2 was when Adam's firmament or solid boundary of his Universe was made and placed in water which shows that Adam's world was totally self sufficient.
Day 3 was when Adam's Earth was made and placed inside the hollow firmament, Gen 1:10 then Adam was made, and then the plants herbs and Trees of Adam's world. Gen 2:8-9 This means that Adam and his world were made BEFORE the Big Bang of our Cosmos. Amen?

Not in the present Universe...BUT...the Big Bang of our Universe was on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4 Adam, the first Human, lived in the Garden of Eden long before the Big Bang. Don't you know that Humans were first made long Before the beginning of our world?

You can't have it both ways. There was nothing in our universe before the Big Bang. However, in the Genesis 1 account, God created OUR heaven and OUR earth on the first day.

Where do you get the notion that humans were created before the world was created? Both science AND Genesis agree that that's mistaken!

Open Heart, you say there was nothing in our universe before the Big Bang. Well, there was no universe, no space, before the Big Bang. I disagree, how3ever. I believe that God is eternally creative, so that there was a universe before ours, and so on ad infinitum.

Amen. There was No present Cosmos until the Big Bang, which Jesus caused on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4 He changed some of the matter made before the first day, the air, dust, and ground without form or dust, into Energy. The energy cooled and became our world. We are made of Starstuff.

***However, in the Genesis 1 account, God created OUR heaven and OUR earth on the first day.

Amen. He created the Heaven/Air and the earth/ground without form or dust. From these two creation elements He will make everything that exists physically.

*** Where do you get the notion that humans were created before the world was created? Both science AND Genesis agree that that's mistaken!

They are "willingly ignorant" ll Peter 3:3-7 that Adam's world was totally destroyed in the Flood. Adam was made the 3rd Day Gen 2:4-7 which was BEFORE the Big Bang or beginning of our Universe. Read Gen 1:16 and you find that the first Stars of our Cosmos lit up on the 4th Day.

Planck discovered in 2015 that it was some 560 Million years AFTER the Big Bang BEFORE the first Stars lit up. It gives an idea that each of God's Days is much longer than we have imagined. Have you noticed yet that Science and Scripture AGREE?

There is no proof of that, either from Science, or from Genesis.

Then you can't say the Big Bang happened on the third day, since OUR heaven and OUR earth came into being AFTER the Big Bang. You are being inconsistent.

Notice the three *** in front of the quote. That means it was your quote showing that you are arguing with yourself.

The Creation ingredients, the air, dust and water which were created before the first Day, were brought into the physical world, but the dust was without form and without form, there is NO Planet Earth. Adam's Earth was made the 3rd Day. Gen 1:10

Our Cosmos was made some 13.8 Billion years ago, in man's time but 3 Days ago in God's time.
Since it was some 9.2 Billions of years AFTER the Big Bang BEFORE our Earth was first formed, which was only 4.6 Billion years ago, Planet Earth is dated as coming into being at the end of the 5th Day, in God's time. Amen?
