Exactly.I wouldn't want to worship a God who magicked the world into its current state while He tells us it's much older.
Because God is a God of truth.
. I wouldn't want to worship a God who magicked the world into its current state while He tells us it's much older.
And we also need to remember that the creation account in Genesis (including Adam and Eve and the flood) is shared by almost every middle Eastern religion, current and forgotten. The people of the area had no idea how everything came into being, and so they thought up an explanation.
Just a note to interject before the mods do....getting into "proof" of the age of the earth, or even discussing young vs old is a topic for a different forum. So let's not get too far down that line of thinking![]()
Actually - this thread is in "origins theology" - in this "origins" section of the forum - you can talk about the age of the earth all day long.
The current Earth is some 4.6 Billion years old in man's time,
Or not

If the earth formed the same day as the Big Bang, on the 3rd day, what happened on day 1 and day 2? There was nothing before the Big Bang. The current Earth is some 4.6 Billion years old in man's time, but about a Day old in God's time. Our Solar system did not form until Billions of years after the beginning.
The beginning of our cosmos was when Jesus caused a singularity, thus scattering energy throughout our Universe on the 3rd Day, the same Day Adam's Earth was made. Gen 2:4 He did this by causing a singularity but the Stars didn't light up until the NEXT Day, God's 4th Day or Age, which was some 13.77 Billion years ago, in man's time. Gravity had to cause the first Stars to accumulate, and to exert enough pressure to light up their fusion furnaces.
Science announced in October, 2015 that it was some 560 Million years AFTER the Big Bang until the first Stars lit up the NEXT Day. Does this give anyone an idea of the enormous amount of man's time it takes, to make just One Day to God?
If the earth formed the same day as the Big Bang, on the 3rd day, what happened on day 1 and day 2? There was nothing before the Big Bang.
There was nothing before the Big Bang.Day 1 was when Jesus came into the physical world from within the invisible Spirit of God.
Day 2 was when Adam's firmament or solid boundary of his Universe was made and placed in water which shows that Adam's world was totally self sufficient.
There was nothing before the Big Bang.
You can't have it both ways. There was nothing in our universe before the Big Bang. However, in the Genesis 1 account, God created OUR heaven and OUR earth on the first day.Not in the present Universe...BUT...the Big Bang of our Universe was on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4 Adam, the first Human, lived in the Garden of Eden long before the Big Bang. Don't you know that Humans were first made long Before the beginning of our world?
You can't have it both ways. There was nothing in our universe before the Big Bang.
There is no proof of that, either from Science, or from Genesis.Open Heart, you say there was nothing in our universe before the Big Bang. Well, there was no universe, no space, before the Big Bang. I disagree, how3ever. I believe that God is eternally creative, so that there was a universe before ours, and so on ad infinitum.
Then you can't say the Big Bang happened on the third day, since OUR heaven and OUR earth came into being AFTER the Big Bang. You are being inconsistent.***However, in the Genesis 1 account, God created OUR heaven and OUR earth on the first day.
