  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I'd pay off family mortgages and the rest would likely have gone to a charity I'd have started myself to reintegrate homeless people back in to society. It's something I really want to do one day whether it's my own charity or just a collaborative effort with others.

But even then, the sun will eventually swell up to the size of a red giant, and scorch planet Earth to a cinder, thus reducing everything to a mere speck of dark matter. Your business, your car, your cherished possessions, EVERYTHING. So, why worry? Earth is only on loan.

To be honest, with the pace of modern day technology, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if we find alternative planets/moons to live on within the next century.

Think about it. We probably both sent our first text message in 2000, and we thought it was the most advanced thing ever. And now look. Just a decade and a half later, and we have an app for almost everything. Having a calculator on your phone in the early 00's was considered cutting edge.

The only reason we haven't is that we haven't found sufficient radiation shielding for spacecraft. Lead could work, but it is so heavy that it would require the spacecraft to be built in orbit and the fuel requirements to propel the craft would be astronomical.
