• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What did I edit out? I didnt touch your post
In my original post I said:

No. His name before that was simply Simon. The author is writing with hindsight.

Yet in your post, #136, you did not quote "The author is writing with hindsight." You ignored it, and instead asked me how Simon Peter could have been used in earlier verses, when in fact I had already answered this question!

Where? I missed it and also named the number post I touched your junk
"Thou art Peter..."

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but be very careful what you say -- your last phrase could be read as pornographic.

I missed this, Im sorry but I dont watch porn like you might to know what they say in it. Porn is junk as well and if that sounds pornagraphic I dont know what to tell you.

And thats not what convinced me, it was the verse where it specifically says,

Luke 6:14 Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

Thats where I stand corrected, it specifically says, and I am cool with His words correcting me on something.

And the reason I say that here is because hindsight could be assumed onto it and that verse clears things right up for me. Changes nothing given I hadnt even thought of taking it from that angle till this morn.

Its a no brainer that Jesus called him Peter or Cephas and what it means whether that was before or at that time, neither would change anything for me in this.

He certainly did. ROCK is a translation of Peter.

And other people's names are translations of "pretty flower" or "brave" or something else like that; but we don't go around addressing them like this-- "Pretty Flower, how are you doing today?" etc.

Please don't accuse me. I don't have to watch porn to know that junk is slang for private parts. Now I'm not going to say anything more.

I'm sure Jesus addressed him in Aramaic. It is given in Greek simply because the gospels are written in Greek, and the meaning of the name was critical. It's really to bad we don't call him Rock in English--we really miss out on the impact.
