Thank you, Miss Ireland. I know you are right, but, this ... while I forgive her, I just don't see how I can actively be friends with someone I know thinks in her mind all the while that I reject Christ, the one absolute truth I know in this uncertain life. It is a grievous insult and she had zero right to say it. The thing is, the way she was so contentious and insulting about this reminded me of the first impression she made when she got here, in which she came down all over KitKatt and a few other singles members in a thread, insisting that they were all not following God or something just because they did not see a problem with using the power of imagination to get through life sometimes, yelling like a religious zombie about how living in a fantasy world is against God somehow. She chilled out after that and I grew to like her, chalking it up to just an unfortunate first impression. But now I wonder, after this most recent conversation, and another one a few months ago in which she also claimed I was in danger of becoming an enemy of God just for being the kind of "nice guy" I wish to be in front of others (especially ladies, yes), I wonder now if this is really just the kind of personality she truly has. And, it's hard to be actively friends with someone like that. I mean, you know, Fire Girl and I kind of got into it once, but we're totally cool, because if nothing else at least Fire Girl never claimed I rejected Christ just because I disagreed with her. I just ... don't know where people get off making accusations like that.

*sigh* Sorry, I will shut up, now. All I'm doing is getting myself riled up.

Again, I don't want you to misunderstand, while I am a little angry at her, I am more angry at just the capacity for believers to judge without any measure of grace or gentility, especially on a clearly peripheral Bible subject in which they themselves argued with cliche, threats, and traditional opinionated sayings instead of reasonable Scriptire backup. Rest assured, I am not feeling any actual hatred.

No, you're fine. I don't think you're seething with anger or anything along those lines. There is nothing wrong with being upset or angry as long as we do not sin in our anger. I think your reaction is a perfectly natural/understandable one actually.

.... Guys, please allow me to rant for a moment. On and off since Tuesday night I have felt a bit of anger. I just ... find it appalling that someone ever thinks they have the right to judge someone else as a false believer in any way, just for having a different interpretation of a Biblical subject that is clearly not mentioned in the Bible as being a Christ-salvational issue. It's such a problem among believers that even this forum site has a rule against believers calling each other false. And yet, right there to my face Elizabeth had the nerve to call me a Christ rejector just because I didn't agree with her on a subject she challenged me on out of the blue (when I was the one who actually bothered to respond to her arguments with Biblical backup instead of just insisting over and over that my view is correct and she's better believe it or else). And then she straight up tells me that I reject Christ.

I do not hate Elizabeth, nor do I think I even dislike her, but I will not tolerate being called that by her. One would think that she could show a little more grace to others.

... It's obvious that some dogmatic (to the exclusion of the very idea we Protestants have adhered to since the Reformation: Sola Scriptura) and fear-based preacher(s) got a hold of her, and she took those ideas and parroted them into me. I have never been one to say that going to church is a bad thing and they are all full of lies like some extremists think, but nevertheless you have to think and study for yourself along with listening to sermons in church. Not every church is perfect (and that's a fact we'd all better learn to get used to; nobody has it all right like Jesus did).

I'm so sorry you went through that. I know how you feel, though I didn't have that spat with a believer, but with an unbeliever that went with other people's ideals instead of looking for the truth himself....

There is quite a fine line when someone is striving to be like Christ vs absolutely thinking they have the right to be. Jesus is perfect and sinless. When he walked the earth He knew the hearts of men. We do not. That is the most fine line I can think of that no one is able to cross and know where we stand. Perhaps she needs to be reminded of that. The gift He gave us is to be able to discern, but not knowing the hearts of man.

I hope you don't think I'm preaching at you, just letting out my thoughts after reading that. Again, I'm sorry.
