  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, his position is that he refuses to answer a question that derails the thread, in his opinion.

Thank you, pyschosarah. Although I have now fallen in to the trap of actually answering his off-topic question. Eh. Que sera sera.

I am a descendant of one of Bloody Mary's "victoms", so I know where I stand. I am also a descendant of Pilgrims that came to this country to escape religious persecution. Now you want me to defend the people that were persecuting us?

And I'm a descendant of a survivor of the Armenian Genocide, a crime against humanity which, even after 100 years, the government that committed said act has not been brought to account for and which virtually no Western government will argue Turkey should be brought to account for.
So I think I can say something more on the motives behind genocide than you do.

My boss recently had back surgery. The docs put him on some pretty heavy painkillers. He doesn't handle pills well so he rambles on about different topics and it's hard to get him to focus on single tasks. Don't know why I'm sharing this it just felt relevant for some reason.....

I actually have been assaulted for being an atheist openly, and while my injuries are minor, that says a lot more than claiming someone I am related to has been oppressed in the past.

But it means nothing about my opinions on oppression of other kinds and situations, to which I will relate similarly as someone that never experienced any sort of oppression.

But they are not accusing you of being the perpetrator of the Armenian Genocide.

I think it is better to quickly give the opinion, and try to get the subject back on track in the same post.
It has been derailed from the beginning and never really was on track. No matter what the topic we always seem to be talking about some aspect of evolution.

But they are not accusing you of being the perpetrator of the Armenian Genocide.

You have continually maintained the (very wrong) assumption that Darwin's theory of evolution via natural selection was directly responsible for Hitler's policy of the Final Solution and the resulting Holocaust.
Will you agree that this is what you have been saying when you started this thread?

That's because you're the one who started the topic with regards to your belief that evolution was responsible for the Final Solution.

Where in the theory of evolution does it say to abort fetuses that have Down Syndrome? I am not asking what they do. I am asking where in the theory that it states we should do such a thing.
It's interesting that Charles and Emma Darwin's youngest child, Charles Waring Darwin (1856-58), was a victim of Down's syndrome. He died of scarlet fever in June 1858 at the age of 18 months, leaving his father 'prostrated' (his own word) with grief.

He lost his oldest daughter when she was 10. He wrote at the time: "We have lost the joy of the Household, and the solace of our old age:— she must have known how we loved her; oh that she could now know how deeply, how tenderly we do still & shall ever love her dear joyous face. Blessings on her.—"

The topic is The Final Solution. There is a lot more that we could talk about other then just evolution. But the only thing the people on this forum seem to want to talk about is evolution. We covered that aspect of this topic quite a bit already.

Survival of the fittest is in Darwin's teaching about evolutionary theory.
I think that you have misunderstood the meaning of 'fittest' in this context. In an evolutionary sense, 'fitness' means differential reproductive success. Nicholas Copernicus (1473-1543), Isaac Newton (1642-1727), Caroline Herschel (1750-1848) and Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) were 'unfit', for all their long lives and their great achievements, because they did not leave descendants. Mary Boleyn (ca. 1500-43), Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg (1819-61), John F. Kennedy (1917-63), Elvis Presley (1935-77) and Diana Spencer (1961-97) were fit in an evolutionary sense, in spite of their comparatively short lives, because they had descendants to continue their lineages.

The subtitle of The Origin of Species was "The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life". This sounds like racism to me. Do you want to address this issue or are you going to side step it again?

If you read The Origin of Species, you will find that Darwin never mentions human evolution or human races anywhere in the book.

In The Descent of Man, did Darwin claimed that certain races, such as blacks and Aborigines, were inferior and that in due course, they would be eliminated and disappear in the struggle for survival?

Did Darwin say this?:
“At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races."
This is like the passage in Edmund Crispin's detective novel Swan Song (published in 1947), in which an undergraduate says that Wagner's music was bad because Wagner himself was sexually immoral and dishonest with money. Another undergraduate counters this by saying that by the same argument Villon (a thief) and Wordsworth (vain) were bad poets, Michelangelo (a homosexual) was no good as an artist, and Gluck (who died of drink) was also a bad composer. Whether Darwin was racist or not has no bearing on the truth of his theory. You might as well say that Hooke's law must be false because Robert Hooke slept with his niece.

The gifts of God are without repentance they are irrevocable. Of course God wants us to use our gifts to bring Him honor and glory, but we have the freedom to use them as we want. That is why He will cause the sun to shine and the rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

It has been derailed from the beginning and never really was on track. No matter what the topic we always seem to be talking about some aspect of evolution.

It hasn't been derailed. We have been sticking to what you posted in the OP: (Emphasis mine)
joshua 1 9 OP said:
We are told that two thirds of the "Jews" were killed in Europe as a part of the Nazi's final solution. ...
Where was the repentance with science? Where was the repentance with evolutionists for their involvement in the final solution?

Now we have two choices:
  1. We can believe that you don't remember what you wrote in your OP (chuckle).
  2. We can believe that you do remember what you wrote in your OP. We know that the premise of your OP was completely refuted, disproven and demolished. We know that your are now trying to backpedal, change the subject, misdirect, and begin talking about something different in an attempt to avoid further embarrassment.
I pick #2.

  1. This is what I wrote: "One aspect that never gets talked about is that there are people that consider the final solution to have some aspects of humanity or humanitarian." We did talk about that a little bit but no one really had much of a comment to make.
