  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nowhere in the theory of evolution does it say that you should abort fetuses that have Down Syndrome.
That is the attitude of the medical profession. Perhaps they got that attitude from Darwin and from the theory of evolution.

The point was that Hitler mentions natural selection in his book Mein Kampf: "Nature selects the best from an abundance of single elements and stamps them as fit to live and carry on the conservation of the species."

The subtitle of The Origin of Species was "The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life". This sounds like racism to me. Do you want to address this issue or are you going to side step it again?

In The Descent of Man, did Darwin claimed that certain races, such as blacks and Aborigines, were inferior and that in due course, they would be eliminated and disappear in the struggle for survival?

Did Darwin say this?:
“At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races."

Who cares what Hitler said or did. It has zero to do with the theory.

I am still waiting for you to show us where it says that we should kill the less fit within the theory of evolution.
I just showed you that. When they abort Downs syndrome babies. This is the direction that medicine is heading in because they have DNA testing now on the unborn fetus. Yet we do not know when the DNA will be expressed and when it will not be expressed.

Was Darwin a racist and is it a racist theory or not? Some people seem to think that it IS a racist theory. But to answer your question, the holocaust survivors and the family of those who did not survive the holocaust seem to be the ones that care. They are the ones that are really asking the questions and thinking about what happened in Germany and what do we need to do to prevent that sort of thing from happening in other areas of the world.

Ethnic cleansing is a very real issue. We have Isis that seems to feel the world needs to be cleansed of Christians.

If you have the extra chromosome that causes Down's syndrome, yes, you absolutely will have Downs. It's not a matter of recessive and dominant genes, it's a whole extra chromosome.

They might think so. It's not.

Did you see my post about gravity? If I through a black person off a roof and the fall kills him, that doesn't make gravity racist.

Where in the theory of evolution does it say to abort fetuses that have Down Syndrome? I am not asking what they do. I am asking where in the theory that it states we should do such a thing.

Do you blame Ebola, on the scientist who came up with germ theory?

Survival of the fittest is in Darwin's teaching about evolutionary theory. The very title of his book makes a reference to "Favored Races". He calls some "races" inferior. Darwins theory is based on the strong running the world and the weak being eliminated. So Hitler and other ethnic purist can come along and claim they are helping nature when they purge the world of the weak and inferior races.

The subtitle of The Origin of Species was "The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life". This sounds like racism to me. Do you want to address this issue or are you going to side step it again?

We are talking about the impact of evolutionary theory on ethnic cleansing. We are talking about the racist attitude of science and the impact that has.

You are talking about your opinion of the same.

When you can demonstrate it, let us know.

The theory of evolution creates an attitude that opens the way for ethnic cleansing. The attitude that we should help nature get rid of the inferior races.

Survival of the fittest is in Darwin's teaching about evolutionary theory. The very title of his book makes a reference to "Favored Races". He calls some "races" inferior.

First, races refers to species, not just humans.

Second, survival of the fittest is just what happens. It is not a command of what we should do. Falling to the Earth is a teaching of the theory of gravity. Doesn't mean that we should shove people off of tall buildings.

Darwins theory is based on the strong running the world and the weak being eliminated.

That is just what tends to happen. Doesn't mean that we should encourage or discourage it. How nature works is not a justification for what is moral.

The subtitle of The Origin of Species was "The Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life". This sounds like racism to me.

It sounds like you are using a modern definition of the word that Darwin wasn't using.

Do you want to address this issue or are you going to side step it again?

You are the one side stepping the issues.

In The Descent of Man, did Darwin claimed that certain races, such as blacks and Aborigines, were inferior and that in due course, they would be eliminated and disappear in the struggle for survival?

Where did Darwin state that they should be eliminated?

It is not my opinion. It's all a part evolution theory. "The idea of "social Darwinism" originated in the class stratification of England, and has often been used as a general term for any evolutionary argument about the biological basis of human differences. Drawing on social Darwinism, supporters of the 20th-century eugenics movement sought to "improve" human genetic stock, much as farmers do in agriculture."
