  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most decaffs are made by using a chemical to extract the caffeine. Thus why it tastes like.... Something I won't mention here ;)

But if you can find an all natural organic decaff. Ooooh, it tastes great.

Then I really must ask, why would anyone bother drinking decaf at all if it neither tastes as good or better than regular coffee nor fulfills the practical purpose of coffee in the first place?

Most decaf coffees taste like...garbage.:D I don't think I've ever had one that tastes good.
That's because you've never tried any that were done with the Swiss Water method.

"A Short Explanation of SWM
This particular method of decaffeination is different from what we’ve so far seen in that it does not directly or indirectly add chemicals to extract the caffeine. Rather, it relies entirely on two concepts, namely solubility and osmosis, to decaffeinate coffee beans.

It begins by soaking a batch of beans in very hot water in order to dissolve the caffeine. The water is then drawn off and passed through an activated charcoal filter. The porosity of this filter is sized to only capture larger caffeine molecules, while allowing smaller oil and flavor molecules to pass through it.

Consequently we end up with beans with no caffeine and no flavor in one tank, and caffeine-free “flavor charged” water (aka “Green Coffee Extract”) in another tank.

And here’s where the magic happens. The flavorless caffeine-free beans are discarded, but the flavor rich water is reused to remove the caffeine from a fresh batch of coffee beans.

Since this water already is saturated with flavor ingredients the flavors in this fresh batch can’t dissolve; only caffeine moves from the coffee beans to the water. So the result is decaffeination without a massive loss of flavor.

Coffees decaffeinated by this method are always labeled as “SWISS WATER” Decaf.

This method is almost exclusively used for decaffeination of organic coffee.

Coffee decaffeinated using the environment-friendly Swiss Water Process undergoes regular caffeine level audits to ensure compliance to 99.9% caffeine-free."

You keep all the flavor, ditching only the caffeine, and without any use of chemicals.

Precisely why I don't drink it. I have no idea why anyone would want to either.

Wow....now that is a process. I might look into picking some up, at least for my Mom since she can't drink normal coffee. Can you buy the organic decaf at a place like Trader Joe's?

Just cause it's organic doesn't mean it's Swiss Water. Here's a locator that lists places that sell swiss water beans:

http://www.swisswater.com/where-to-buy/

You put in your zip code or whatever then filter it by grocery stores. The brand of coffee will vary by the roaster.

No shave November? :|

How?

I can't even make it to day 5 of Nov. :|

I need to shave....... TODAY.
I can't do the no shave thing; I have to be clean shaven-- or at least just some stubble. No beard for me.

So you just like the taste of coffee?

Do you drink it black or do you mix stuff?

I know the rare times I drink coffee it has more sugar and creamer in it to even pretend to call it coffee.

Me neither....... I don't mind when I have stubble but when it gets long enough to be more beard than stubble......... its too itchy and I feel gross even though I shower many times a day.

OMM: The gender pay gap in the UK means that women effectively stop earning on Tuesday, November 4, relative to men's year-round wages.

This depresses me

Wanna come shave my face and head to make up for loss of income?

If it helps youd get to do something a man couldn't. Id let a woman shave me...... but if a man tried it Id take a swing at him for tryin to get that close to me. ^_^

I already took the clippers to it so its mostly stubble now. ;)

Kind of troubling that some people think that when a police officer tells you to do something, no matter how ludicrous, that you should just do it. :mmh:

Anyway, hope u all had an awesome day! I did! :cheer:

Well dagnabit..... IF I were to fly there, Id be going out in public all over the place with uneven beard and headhair.... :|

I don't care if I look horrible when Im out in public....but I DO wanna look even. Smelling good is more important than making sure every hair is in place........ speaking figuratively of course being as when Im shaved I don't have any hair. :D

Well Ill keep that in mind if Im ever over there having "a spot a tea" and I need sugar...... ill just let you stick your finger in it instead. Save me from needing to do it anyway to stir it. You do it, two birds with one stone. Unless of course its hard to find a good green tea over there. Then Id just have to drink imported soda. :D
