... Ugh, all these last few hours I was reading and lurking about CF on my phone in my room, I had the clock radio playing at a low, background-appropriate volume, and Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies" came on just now ... Kill me.

Yeah and you can also have barbacoa and anything else. Unless its spiced its going to be bland.

Obviously in your experience a family from Mexico making food is the same as it would be made in Mexico.

But a good chef picks up the best of something (such as adding spice) and keep their own heritage as part of it. That is a blending that is TexMex. At least to me..... and in my experience.

Mexican food = Bland and is made with minimal if any spices.
TexMex = Spices and flavorful.

As I said, I believe our debating is over the semantics and not the actual food.

I think you and I would push the same food away...... we would just call it something different.
