• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

The closest thing I have to a journal is my calendar and appointment book.
How are you going to write your memoirs if you never journal?! Oh, on a side note, I am going to attempt the stack cake sometime this coming week.

Diaries/journals.............Who am I, Anne Frank?

If I wrote my every thought of the day...... Id spend my tomorrows still writing from the day before. :|
Tut tut. Don't you know journals are awesome? You use them however you want. Fountain pens also go nicely with journals.:smarty:

Hmm, addiction is a bit strong word.

That's how I always do with internet forums, I go in, spam and read posts like a maniac for few weeks, then leave for half a year and possibly repeat the pattern later.

After the "manic episode", it's good to get some kickstart for getting out, like a temporary ban.
Sorry to see you go, man. The place is better when you're here. But I understand needing a break and not trusting yourself to stay away.

Oh I wasn't leaving just yet, more like making an exit plan. And even if I did push the eject button, I seem to always wander back at some point.

But thank you for nice thoughts!

Midwifery. ...But do I want the inevitable student debt that'll comes along with it if I choose the 'education' route? No. That's simply not worth it to me. I'm too type A about how I distribute my money, and student debt isn't on my list of acceptable distribution (for me personally).

Actually, it would be a lot easier to weasel my way into a birth assistant position, get the basic training for it, and educate my way up from there with real-life, hands on experience. I learn so much easier and faster that way anyway.

Sounds like a plan. And after your professed similarity to Rick Blaine, I'm picturing what he would be like as a midwife- "You don't wanna push just yet, doll, but you can trust me, I'm reasonably sober."

Is it possible where you live to get education by working & doing a bit of schoolwork at the same time? It's somewhat popular way here, and no debt needed cause u get paid for the work while you study. I dunno what the english word for it is tho, literally it would be "apprenticeship" or something like that I guess.

You know, now that I think of it.. I should keep a journal. Not even I can read my writing so if I kept one.... when I died and someone went through my stuff... they would think it was super secret stuff. :sorry:

It would start a mystery..... "The Mysteries of the Toro Journals"

The movies that would come from the possibilities... like the DaVinci Code.

The Toro Code.

The Toro Supremacy, The Toro Ultimatum........

The Toronator, Toronator 2, Toronator: Rise of the Bulls.

You literally don't know how accurate this is...because that is something I would totally say to woman in labor on the brink of hysterics.

I'm not even kidding.

Yeah, I'm also not into 'stretching myself thin' if I can help it. ;) Nah, I'd rather for-go the real life experience route as my full-time job, which will in turn serve as my education at the exact same time. You're killing two birds with one stone and all that jazz. For me, hands on experience with the 'real deal' trumps book learning in a classroom setting. The latter is important and has its place, but for someone like me who doesn't learn well in the education system's one-size-fits-all setting, real life experience works perfectly for me. It's more challenging in some ways, but completely worth it, and again...without the burden of student debt.

Sung in the key of "moo" of course.

Moo moo, moo moo moo mooo.

I somehow imagined the X-files theme like this quite well in my head.

Do you care that later on in your career, you might need that degree possibly for something like a promotion requirement to become a Manager?
