One thing that has always bothered me is the segregation of staff and community. On other message boards where I have served as part of staff it was always emphasized that staff be active parts of the community. Made their presence known in an unofficial capacity and were more than just meeters, greeters, and enforcers. I think it is a very important quality to have when you serve the community that you are also mingling with community. CF staff has always hung out behind the scenes for the most part and there is not a lot of interaction outside of the staff mindset. So let's change that and try to form a relationship and get to know those on staff here in OBOB! :)

Michie! Thank you for starting a thread for us! Like I said I hate that we are strangers so your efforts in making that history is much appreciated.

Most staff enjoy the quiet life behind the scenes so questions will help us get out of our shells :)

For me well hmmm here is a pic of when I started staff. And here is a recent one
So as you can see I sort of grew up here :)
My hubby (in that pic) and I have been married for 33 years and have 3 adult children. He is a Test Engineer, I am between jobs but my last one was an Evaluator for California Preschools, and my Children all work and go to school. We have one dog and two cats. That is our 1/2 german shepherd 1/2 cocker spaniel Kylah!

I have been Messianic for 18 years, Christian for 36 years (+ more because I have believed in Jesus all my life)

I love and have loved serving this community here at CF and consider this my ministry. I also love Israeli Dance and choreograph for our dance team at church. I recently went back to college for two years and earned a Certification in Hypnotherapy and am graduating next week!

We live in San Diego, California, and I have lived in California for most of my life.

I attend two churches Kehilat Ariel Messianic Synagogue and a non denominational Church called North Coast Church - Official Site

Since my family doesn't go to the Messianic Church with me, I attend both but my Rabbi also teaches at North Coast so I see him at both places.

Any Questions? :)

Ohhhhhh My Hubby grew up a Catholic in the outskirts of Detroit. So I do have a connection to you all kinda !!!:groupray:

Nice Tishri. :) You all need to come out of hiding more often and mingle with us. That is the best way to get to know staff and get to know the community. The board would be richer for it!

I also work for the election commission, so I work the polls during elections.

Hi everyone. I will do my best to be out here getting to know you. I think it would be fun and I look forward to it too. Thank you Michie for creating this thread.

Two things about me, I love people and I love keeping busy. When I am not on here I am spending time helping others, with family, or friends. I love to sing and often find myself doing so while driving. Not exactly on key but hey I do it anyway, and with the windows rolled up! Don't want to scare anyone :D

I would like to say from my time on staff I trust Tishri1 implicitly. She always had the utmost respect and civility toward OBOB when staff issues came up.
Thank you again David! You have been my eternal friend on CF and the thought of you not here feels so impossible to me. I think you might as well consider yourself an eternal CFer with me here! :)

Questions for you all?
How long have some of you known each other on forums(any forum)?
Did anyone find their husband or wife here? I'm always curious about that and think it's great when I hear that some did indeed! :)

Tishri, why didn't you say you were beautiful and had a thing for Test Engineers? I'd have been way nicer to you!

Great thread idea, Michie!
Thank you Mike! :)

I'm very thankful you started this thread Michie! And yes I will, thank you for the invitation! :)

Lol! You are such a flirt!
MikeK has been known to entertain all of us in the MSC. We all feel honored to receive good tidings from MikeK! :)

What a great idea for a thread!

Let's see.. for my paid job I work research for a mortgage company. I do it all -- address changes, refunds, payment histories -- basically anything that can't be taken care of by one call to our call center -- I handle it :)

Now that that's over :) My real love is being a firefighter. I am a volunteer firefighter / EMS officer with the local volunteer fire department here in town. I have been a firefighter for almost 15 years (started in 2002). I never thought growing up that I would be a firefighter, but now I can't think of my life without it. Being able to help someone on their worst day is very humbling to me. (In fact, if you could all pray for my last two calls -- they were pretty rough tonight, I'm sure they would appreciate your prayers).

I have a Bachelors in Psychology, a Masters in Forensic Psychology -- and I'm currently in seminary for my M.Div.

I have two kids -- a daughter who is 6, and a son who is 5. My daughter is in 4 different dance classes and my son is in one.

Let's just say my life is pretty busy -- add my duties here at CF, and I'm always moving :)

If you have any questions, or need anything -- feel free to send me a PM! :)

Great idea for a thread, I agree completely.

I'm Erin, and I've lived in central Florida for the majority of my life. I'm a secretary and have worked in a variety of wonderful organizations - for the past several years have worked in a child protection agency that opened its doors in 1902. I have a 14 year old son, Gage, who I love more than any one in the world. My great passion is books and reading - I've ran a book website for over 8 years and have been chosen as one of 20 in the United States to tour a large book office, Amazon paying my trip, in two weeks to San Francisco. I have a wonderful group of close friends and an amazing family. I've been a Christian since I can remember, which is the greatest joy.

Edited to add since everyone else is mentioning pets - Have a sweet, mean cat Malz who I love (although he swipes others...), and a 7 year old rabbit, Kirby. Also 2 hermit crabs

Glad to meet everyone here :)

I love to sing in the car, too, especially on long trips--keeps me alert.

My favorite songs are the ones I can make up harmonies to--and fast, upbeat songs for driving.

My daughter and her friend once recorded me singing in the car on cell phone--when they suddenly started playback boy was my face red!

I have perfect pitch but always consider myself more of a "choir" singer...

OK. True or false? "For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13 This statement by Paul is the greatest non-christian statement that has ever been written by a true Christian.
Hi Theodore, this thread is for the OBOB community to ask personal questions for staff to get to know them better, but I appreciate your question so Im going to move it to a place where all folks can answer it ok?
