The problem for most religions is they all attribute evolution to creation events that happened over a few weeks or months.

They can't grasp the concept of the best adapted to the environment passing on their genes.

In the wild, where Humans were for the largest part of our existence. Only the best survived, reproduced and over 10,000s of generations tiny benefits are multiplied. Hitler tried to do it, his problem was grasping the concept of the time it takes to see real benefits.

You will never convince creationists, they believe it happened in 6 days, 6,000 years ago and all the evidence is a scientist conspiracy and we can trust 100% the man who said god told them what to say. Because they say, god told them what to say.

Proving evolution is easy. Take the pet dog, cat, food we eat, flowers in the garden, etc.

Within a few generation it's easy to produce a fitter and better adapted breed.

Put that element into the wild, the fastest catch food or run to not become food. The best suited, mate and produce better suited. Multiply by 500,000 or a million and you have evolution. It really is that easy to understand, by looking at the evidence, we plot the course of evolution. Even down to why some are white and some are brown, some are tall and others short.

If we want to watch evolution in progress, it makes far more sense to watch a fast breeding organism such as a bacterium. Armed with that thought, I Googled it and found umpteen examples of evolution being observed in action. This is one of the easiest to understand and seems to me to prove the process of evolution. http://www.pnas.org/content/105/23/7899 Given that we can actually see that process before our very eyes, why do people question the process as a whole? It seems like a terrible lack of imagination, almost like: 2+2=4 but does that work with other numbers? 20+20=40, Oh yes, that works. 200+200=400, Oh, yes so it does.... after that do you really need to keep asking the same question?

Harping back to an earlier thread concerning single cell organisms which clump into multi-cell organisms and back again, that process does work in an irreversible manner with Pandorina, Eudorina and Volvox. Apart from their genes, the cells of all three organisms are identical but they never revert back to a simpler organism. OK, that's not entirely proof of evolution but it takes little imagination to understand that once upon a time there was only Pandorina and something even simpler before that, at some stage, during asexual reproduction, they did not split away and the more complex form came into existence.

I apologise for any spelling mistakes, I am dragging up these half forgotten names from my school days - 60 years ago.

You should be attempting to provide evidence that beneficial mutations even exist. If all of evolution theory requires many many beneficial mutations then why do people have to dig so hard to even come up with the inadequate evidence they try to present for their claim?

If you google "most mutations are harmful" you get About 1,110,000 results (0.40 seconds).

They aren't that hard to find. Compare the human and chimp genome. Find the differences, the mutations that separate our species. Among those mutations are changes that are responsible for beneficial human adaptations.

If all of evolution theory requires many many beneficial mutations then why do people have to dig so hard to even come up with the inadequate evidence they try to present for their claim?

They don't have to dig hard. They are right in front of us.

That is indeed part of the issue but it is not as simple as that. A very quick internet search found this:

"Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria change in some way that reduces or eliminates the effectiveness of drugs, chemicals, or other agents designed to cure or prevent infections. The bacteria survive and continue to multiply causing more harm. Bacteria can do this through several mechanisms. Some bacteria develop the ability to neutralize the antibiotic before it can do harm, others can rapidly pump the antibiotic out, and still others can change the antibiotic attack site so it cannot affect the function of the bacteria".

In other words, some bacteria couldn't resist a certain antibiotic yesterday but today it can. That indicates that something has changed - evolution or a miracle. If yesterday I couldn't breath under water but today I can, something in me has changed - evolution or a miracle. Perhaps creationists should regard each step of evolution as a miracle, then we could all be happy :clap:

For some experiments, that just isn't true. The most famous of these experiments was done in the early 1950's by the Lederberg's.

In those experiments, they started with a single bacterium. Not a population. A single cell. From that single bacterium they grew an entire population. When they plated those populations on antibiotic plates they found that about 1 in 10 million to 1 in 10 billion were resistant to that antibiotic. This isn't a case of the resistance already being there. If it was there from the start then nearly 100% of the population would have been resistant from the start since the population was founded by a single bacterium. They weren't.

Since that experiment 60 years ago we have been able sequence DNA and find the specific mutations that confer antibiotic resistance.

"Twenty-six (26/69, 37.7%) streptomycin-resistant isolates presented a mutation in either the rpsL gene and/or the rrs530 loop, with no mutation in the rrs912 region. Seventeen (24.6%) isolates showed rpsL mutations (codons 43 and 88) associated with high MIC levels. Nine (13.0%) isolates had alterations in the rrs gene (A513T, A513C and C516T). Nineteen isolates (19/64, 29.7%) were classified into seven clusters (containing 2–5 isolates per cluster). Nineteen different spoligotype patterns were found. All the LAM3 spoligotype isolates (10/67, 14.9%) were associated with a C491T change in the rrs gene, being also observed in all LAM3 streptomycin-susceptible isolates."

Like we became immune to diseases that killed people who had no exposure to them. It's all part of how evolution works.

If a 100% killer arrives, nothing survives. If it's only a 99% killer, the 1% have more immunity, reproduce more immune offspring and so on.

The species becomes immune, so you're right. Individuals don't become immune, the immunity is in the parents, gets passed down and over generations the colony becomes immune.

Evolution doesn't require of produce mutatins in your use of the word.

Think of it as tall people having children with only tall people, eventually the colony or tribe becomes tall. works in the opposite direction.

Stop thinking f things happening in a day or generation. Think 500,000 generations of only the most adapt mating.

Evolution doesn't require of produce mutatins in your use of the word.

Think of it as tall people having children with only tall people, eventually the colony or tribe becomes tall. works in the opposite direction.

Stop thinking f things happening in a day or generation. Think 500,000 generations of only the most adapt mating.
Gradualism may work for Geology but evolution happens very fast in radiations or explosions.
