  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I don't think that I've come across politician yet that I actually support. My biggest issue is bi-partisanship, which isn't popular with any political party and thus not popular with any candidate.

And if you go into the politics sections here, you'll find it isn't popular at all with Christians, either.

... I just have to say it, it seems to me that politics is way, way too mixed in with faith when it comes to Christians these days. I don't consider myself liberal, but I can't believe how much people in my family freaked out on Facebook over the same-sex-marriage ruling a little while back.

Good grief! I'm pretty sure standard procedure is to put the animal under before dental work... and, it seems, with good reason. :p

There was this one time I remembered when working as an intern under my mother's veterinarian my being asked to drag a highly sedated rottweiler all the way from the surgery room to the kennel in the back, after he'd had some kind of operation performed on him. I can't imagine how well that would have gone had he been more than a fourth of the way conscious.

Vet work is interesting to say the least, is it not? ;)

Unfortunately, most vets practice small animal medicine. Dogs, cats, hamsters, etc. Want to see interesting? Work on a dairy farm. :ouch:
Indeed... Large animal practices are becoming something of a rarity.

No arguments there! :p

He must have been pretty heavy to drag, being completely dead weight. I wouldn't want to mess with an alert and somewhat cranky rottweiler though, haha.

When I was in college, I worked part time at a kennel. It was a private kennel of Irish Setters. They were show dogs. It was my job to bathe, groom, and feed them. They were cute but so high strung and loud. A few of the males (one in particular) were very difficult to handle. It was a nightmare to try to get him up onto the grooming table. (We did have a harness/muzzle). I loved the dogs, but I would never own that breed. I just remember how little the dogs listened to me or feared me, haha. A few of the males were almost as tall as me.

lol I had to turn a breached calf when I was a kid because my arm was "thinner" than my grandfather's. I wont tell you exactly how you turn a breached calf. I will leave that to your imagination. lol

I remember posting a thread in the political section of CF about the U.S. adopting certain British election laws...http://www.christianforums.com/threads/if-the-u-s-had-british-election-laws.7896552/ and got a grand total of 3 replies. Meanwhile every thread about "pop politics" aka mentioning Trump, Obama, gays, Obamacare, fearconomics, war, etc. or some weird theory gets massive replies. I saw in this subforum last week say the quote "football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds." from 1984. There's second half to that quote "All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And when they become discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontentment led nowhere, because being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances."

Apparently there's a new "Cupid Shuffle"-type song out there now (South Dakota is still a bit behind everyone else, even with social media, we've learned to accept it). Don't we have enough of those songs already?

I like the songs that tell me how to dance. I feel like I actually know what I'm doing...kind of.

Prayers work.

I've been praying that I get an interview at least in the field I want and I got a call this morning and I was picked for an interview. I really hope that it goes well and that I get this job. My (unofficial) mentor would be one of my bosses and that really excites me. I hope they have some pull and decides to hire me.

The best part of this situation is that should another opportunity come up (in the position I want), I could interview for it before the general public. This could be the catalyst to my future career.

Prayers guys. This job would be perfect.
