  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I don't know if I was living under a rock as a kid or something. I missed out on all these classic movies. It will take me a lifetime to catch up. Good thing they aren't making classic-worthy movies anymore like they used to lol

You better get started :D Old movies are the best... they don't make them the way they use too.. Though I do think the marvel films are better....

If there were any power in positive thinking, the world would be a much better place.

What profit is there in professing disapproval on a given issue when I do not take vigil in prayer and fasting against the issue? What profit is there in hating the concept of sin when I still cherish and nurture my own?

Note to self: Pray more. Practice repentance once rather than acknowledging my sins over and over under the guise of 'asking forgiveness'; understand that disapproval is not tantamount to constant prayer.

Well being a scot my dear, I have no idea what a standard is ?

I have no idea what you look like, so how would I know if you look like Miss Daisy (Whoever she is lol)

Well, a standard/manual car is one where the driver selects the gears the car is in. 1,2,3,4, R in older cars, 1-5(sometimes6)R in more modern cars consisting of the gear shift and an extra pedal known as the clutch (to engage and disengage gear selection). Most people drive automatics which the car selects gear and all the driver must do is mash their foot on the gas.

Manual transmission vehicles are safer as the driver controls the movements of the car. Unlike automatic transmissions that driver and passenger are at the mercy of an electronic never malfunctioning.

Manual transmissions, in general are also faster and less wasteful and require less maintenance. They also "require" footwork (both feet and hands to operate. 1 foot for the clutch, one for the gas/brake. One hand on the wheel, the other on the gear shifter.)

I shave my head and I look like an albino ninja turtle. :p

Is a standard a manual?

Automatics are funny beasts.
Yes, "standard" = "manual"

I think it's the opposite here. Most people drive manuals, or at least they did. Automatics generally attract a very select group of drivers. In my completely biased experience.

Not here, most people will looks at the car like its broken if its got 3 pedals and a gear shift.

My parents FORCED me to learn Manual because they said "If you can drive Manual, you can drive anything."

Now, its the only thing I will drive. Automatics are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring.

Pretty much. We were dirt poor. Lived in a shack in the woods, so there were a lot of sticks to rub together :D

I'm fairly clueless as well if a girl is interested in me. She practically has to slap me upside the face or something haha

Here in Scotland most people drive manual.

I can only drive a automatic, which means people make jokes about it saying I can't really drive :help:

Awww, Id teach you how to "really drive" if you lived closer to me. It's more intimidating than it is hard. The basics are simple, however there are techniques to driving a manual that get more complex, but the basics are pretty simple if you don't let it intimidate and allow for practice.

I can drive a manual, I did driving lessons for 2 years in one, I failed my first test... I really need to drive so couldn't afford to fail the second time so sat my automatic...

I think you just want to take me out for a ride :D
