I've had less problems in Facebook than I've had in this forum.

I haven't had anyone block me for posting pro-marriage stuff on my time line yet, but I know it's coming.

I'm walking away before i lose half my friends... who i know i have to patiently and slowly help understand.
So its best for me get some peace before i become unsettled.
Then i will be able to witness better.

I believe my Catholic posts should speak for themselves... so i am staying out til this hot topic cools off and then i wil go back to posting Catholic things.. and prayers towards an end of this evil.

I recommend using a fake name for Facebook. That's what I do. It's something that's obviously fake.
but that would also be an abomination, you would have to lie to use a false name, and you would also have to lie about your acceptance of the TOS.
Are you recommending people use false information against a company's policy to access their services?

It's not a lie. It's no different than how Livingwordunity is not my real name here. If someone calls themselves (I'm making something up for an example) Humpty Doodle on Facebook that's not a lie, and is obviously not anyone's real name.

Facebook does have in it's TOS that you are not "suppose" to make up fake names. What stops me from grabbing someone's pictures and creating a facebook page with their information and saying that I am that person. Nothing really However, I am more unnerved that they can read texts that you type but do not post. That is "very" creepy. Even more creepy that I don't see any warnings to the public on it. If it is even true..... That being said facebook reminds me of high school. Maybe because I have high school friends on it. But there is that pressure to conform. Who wants to be disliked or talked about. It's a huge place for "group" think.

I need to reflect on this...

So anyway, I shared a photo that said "Marriage= One Man, One Woman". A gay man later defriended/blocked me over it and asked me "If I were to attend my brother's wedding if he was married to a man" (Of course not!).

Why is is that politics ALWAYS seems to bring out the worst in people? It's AWFUL. :( Sigh...
I know. But look at CF. There are plenty of posters here--anonymous, of course--who do little more than lie in wait to call names and insult someone who disagrees with anything at all that that person favors. They LOVE to turn a cutting phrase or insinuate something demeaning...and they have refined it to an art so that they won't be cited for a violation of the rules. This is sport for those people both here and on Facebook.

If there's something like that in their TOS I think the purpose would be to discourage things like one person trying to impersonate someone else's identity. There's a moral difference between trying to impersonate someone and calling yourself Humpty Doodle in order to avoid sharing your personal information with the whole world.

I did not know that it said that until you guys showed it to me today. I guess I won't use Facebook then.

And do you still recommend others to use fake names?

I said in another post that we should expect further persecution. Righ now it is done in insidious ways but steadily it is becoming more open and accepted by the wider population.

Lets not despair, our brothers and sisters in the mid-east are facing far worse persecution they we are.

When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

ah the passive aggressive PC card hypocrites aren't they great? You're entitled to your own opinion...unless it disagrees with theirs, esp politically. Then the "tolerance" buzzword they were touting so loudly goes away in a hurry...gotta love it

As for Facebook, beyond sharing some pics I see little use and find it extremely bizarre that it's so popular, ditto Tweet. But I'd say the same with the cell phone addiction too... in fact I'd take it all farther and say this being electronically "tuned in" is like a slow poison, or some bizarre addiction, that is eroding our social skills, reversing our maturity levels, and screwing us up profoundly in general, but precious few (at most) would get it and there would likely be mostly hissy fitting and poo-pooing.
