  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've just had a light bulb moment. It's just occurred to me why creationists cannot see all the evidence for evolution. It's because, like dark matter/energy, it cannot be perceived, but it must be there or the theory wouldn't have any credibility. Also, like dark matter/energy, there's so much of it around that it must be everywhere, just don't expect to see it! Oh, some will claim that it can be perceived it some shape or form, but don't be deceived, things are not always what they seem (how could they be, if our brains are just the product of random processes - your random processes might be totally different to mine or the next persons?).

Here is some evidence for evolution. Can you see it?

God creates life, it was planted on our old earth and evolved into what we know today.

I can see you are thinking. But it is not good enough.

We will not have the idea of dark matter or dark energy unless we have a good reason to think so.
We will not reject evolution unless we have a good positive reason to do so.

Everything has a reason. It does have. And it IS a reason.

The theory of evolution has credibility because it has massive amounts of evidence supporting it which is perceivable, it has not been falsified and its predictions are validated by that evidence.

I don't think the brain is the product of random processes. After all, natural selection is the non-random differential reproduction of genes. It's not random and it's not directed, it is a product of causality or things acting and interacting according to their nature.

Many people, not only religious people, are stuck at the perceptual level of consciousness. That is the problem when talking about a theory which is conceptual in nature. I've run into so many atheists that have no knowledge of what a concept is or how it's formed, a concept's relationship to percepts, how a proper definition is made or of the hierarchical nature of knowledge. Anyone like that is going to have a hard time with the TOE or any scientific theory.

These kind of people are what Ayn Rand called the "missing link" between animals and man. They have the capacity to conceptualize but they never really develop it or not very far beyond the perceptual level.

This is probably my favorite thing ever.
