Here's a slight rearrangement of the Greek crosses.

it is still busy but it may be a little better balanced. I am somewhat unsure of what the Greek Crosses around a Patriarchal Cross would signify but they are a kind of link back to our current faith icon and that may be good or not depending on how one feels about our current icon.

For ease of comparison I'll put the simple and the busy side by side.

I just had a thought, we could maybe keep two greek crosses rather than four. It could represent East and West united as brethren under the authority of our heirarchs (the patriarchal cross).

That way it would not look like the Jerusalem cross, but it would also have some symbolic meaning and bring a little continuity from the old design. Plain might still be best though.

To be perfectly honest - if we add anything to the Patriarchal Cross - then it's not a Patriarchal Cross.

At present the Patriarchal Cross can be seen in many places and it's always the simple unadorned one.

I think you know my preference

I agree with Anhelyna,

looks best and keeps faith with the Patriarchal Cross that Roman and Eastern Catholics recognise and appreciate.

we may want to wait a few days until the pending site move is accomplished and the dust settles, and then see if a new icon can be accommodated.

Plus its simplicity and strong Christian symbolism is hard to miss.

Ah, good point. Just tryin to help out :)

Thanks :) your post is appreciated.

I thought about the keys of saint Peter but decided that they are very specific to the papacy, perhaps that would be okay, but in faith icon size the keys would be very hard to make out. It looks like this

Unfortunately those too are hard to see. Plus, alot of our churches trace our apostolic succession through other apostles so it wouldn't completely represent us. I love the plain patriarchal cross. There are a couple other crosses the East and West share, but none is as distinctive as that.

Once you guys figure out some possibilities, I'll see if I can get an admin to run a poll for CF members to vote on whether to change it, and if so, to what. It might have to wait until after the big change coming up (you ambassadors should know what I'm talking about) but no harm in getting the figuring out done now.

Would we be polling all CF members or just those who identify as Catholic?

Just Catholics since it affects them. I'm not saying this will or won't happen, I'm just saying that if you guys decide you want to do this, I'll bring it to the attention of the folks who can decide if it's doable.
