I doubt that, my social disorder is much more apparent in person than it is online, where I can edit what I post and rethink it as I type. I am an unpleasant person to work with in a group, especially if there are consequences to any mistakes people make. I crack easily under pressure; I even have panic attacks.

I understand. The research wasn't undertaken as a group, though. Each student submitted her research proposal and was then paired with a scientist, physician, or psychologist (depending on the nature of the research) to mentor her through the research process.

I'll send you a link to the journal for honors research in science in a rep in case any of the research within it is of interest to you. I'm not posting it publicly because I don't want to reveal the name of the school.

Darwin, is known as the 'Father of Evolution,' not the King of Evolution. Of course, understanding of evolution, has evolved, since his time, lol. Koonin didn't seem, at all interested, in dethroning Darwin, when he gave the Darwin Lecture.

i would suggest molecular and integrated biology.
research is coming from these areas that's almost guaranteed to bury darwin.

No, they're not. When I tell people we homeschool, they talk as if every teacher has a PhD and they don't.

Like I said, in most states, they're not required to have any training in their content area besides one or two general ed classes.

When I got my ed degree, we spent all our time studying various psychology classes. History and Philosophy of Education, the Exceptional Child, etc.

Like I said, the only reason I had degrees in my content area was because I had an interest in the subject and planned to teach at the college level, where degrees are required.

The only of my fellow teachers I recall having any training in their content area were the Phys Ed teachers and one math teacher who was an engineer who switched careers later in life.

Most teachers are good people with good intentions, but they really don't do anything your average parent can't do.

Years and years ago when the British dominated most of Africa someone in the government decided it would be a good idea if they sent the sons of the local leaders of some tribes to be educate in the hope that they would eventually go home and educate the people of their villages, a few years later after their education was completed the sons all went home, the first things they did was get themselves the best land in the village and build themselves big houses, they married the prettiest girls and got themselves lot's of servants.
It was only then did they even think about educating some of the villagers to guess what?
help them keep what they had accumulated, why? because they had learned in school that an uneducated population is easier to control.

I think this is a total ..... My husband was a Science teacher for high School and then a Biology teacher in College and the requirements were a BS in Biology for the position in the High School. He has Masters in Biology.

Good for him. But I, too, taught at the secondary level. In my experience, this was not the case.

He has taught in two states. I know for certain that in Oklahoma and Nebraska to teach Science in a high school setting one has to have a BS in Biology.

Perhaps so.

If memory serves, the "No Child Left Behind" Act allowed anyone with a bacherlor degree to teach elementary school within that subject. I do believe that most schools still require a bachelors or masters degree that includes specific training for education in order to teach at the secondary level.

At the university level, you often have two different groups of professors in the biological sciences. You have schools that are mainly focused on instruction. These are usually smaller, liberal arts schools that don't have much money for modern lab equipment. You also have biology departments in larger schools that are primarily focused on research. These schools have hundreds of millions of dollars in lab equipment, and the salaries for professors are often covered by research grants and not directly paid by the school. The former tends to focus on undergraduate degrees. The latter focuses on graduate degrees and postdocs.
