  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Paul fought the circumcision, Messianic Judaism.

I don't think that one's faith or one's character or one's moral rectitude will be what opens the gates of Heaven. The key to the gates of the city of God is Jesus Christ. If getting in is what matters then it is grace that will do it.

Now that's a scary thought for anyone living by the law and not faith in and on Jesus.

bugkiller

yup, many will come to the Lord and say..

"lord, did we not keep the law?", and the Lord will says "depart from me, you did not know grace!"

I don't mean this about anyone here on the forum, but it is a fact, sin is trusting in self righteousness, not God.

Naturally I hold my position because I think the Bible supports it and you hold your position because you think the Bible supports it, it just happens to be that you're wrong. :p
How much of your opinion is based on what others say? Please do not say none.

Then married people can not be saved. I have more fallacies.:)

There is, among many christian groups, a pick & choose mentality towards holy scripture. The passage in Revelation to which I referred is this:
Revelation 14:1-5 And I saw, and behold, the Lamb was standing above mount Zion, and with him were one hundred and forty-four thousand, having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of a great thunder. And the voice that I heard was like that of singers, while playing on their stringed instruments. 3 And they were singing what seemed like a new canticle before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one was able to recite the canticle, except those one hundred and forty-four thousand, who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are Virgins. These follow the Lamb wherever he will go. These were redeemed from men as the first-fruits for God and for the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth, no lie was found, for they are without flaw before the throne of God.
Read at face value it is only those who sing the song who are redeemed from the earth. Only those who are men who were not defiled with women. Only male virgins. But I do not think any group has embraced this passage as teaching a special status for the 144,000 except for Jehovah's witnesses and not many christians think favourably of their theology.

Maybe in your bible, but the actual bible say the opposite.

Matthew 7:21-23 (NKJV)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Sin is defined as lawlessness....ie breaking God's commands.

1 John 3:4 (NKJV)
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

God gives you grace to repent from your sins.

What's your view, SAAN, of Revelation 14:1-5?

Ive never really got that whole 144,000 thing, as many have some sort of different view on what it really means. Im pretty sure more than 144,000 will be saved during the tribulation.

WHat is your view on it?

The number appears to be symbolic rather than a population statistic for heaven.

God gives you grace to repent from your sins.
But he hates self righteousness, one is cut off if they are.

4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified[a] by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

Law breeds pride, i got text to prove it, if you want.
