Yes. I would say 60% of my thoughts are unwanted. None of them are really about religion tho.

I have a lot of thoughts that I'd rather weren't there. Internally, I stress about a lot of things that no one even really knows about. It's weird. I SEEM fine and most of the time I am, but my thoughts are often clouded with crazy stuff that I'd rather just wasn't there. I've learned how to kind of refocus my thoughts a little...it is hard...but it's worth it in a way.

Yeah. I'm having some right now.

My thoughts are usually like insults or bad stuff about people I get close to. I talked to my therapist about it and he said that it could be my mind trying to protect me by turning myself against these people. He said it should be fine so long as I don't actually feel the things that pop into my head.

They're called intrusive thoughts, and they're very common in OCD, although you don't have to have it to get them. From what I understand, everyone had them at least once in a while, but for some people they can get really bad. And they can be distressing if you start wondering whether maybe they're your thoughts.

Everything can be fine, and then out of nowhere I start thinking bad things about people. I don't understand it really but my therapist seems to be right. It's the only thing that makes sense considering I don't have OCD.

That's exactly what happens. I started having some about my GF earlier and it bothered me so bad that I could barely talk to her until I calmed down. It's things that are obviously not true, but the thoughts are in MY head so it seems like they are my thoughts even though they aren't.

Don't let them get to you. Easier said than done, I know, or I wouldn't have mentioned them in the first place. I've dealt with them practically my whole life and still have trouble with worrying that they're real.

I totally understand that...and it seems like the closer I am to someone, the more I have those thoughts even if they're not feelings. It's pretty wild.

They seem to become more prevalent when I don't feel good or am upset. (Like when I'm weak) so that kinda reinforces what my therapist says. I always have some "intrusive thoughts" but they are bearable most of the time.

So I left for a while, and now back reading reading heavy stuff.

This is what I do
Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

When I catch myself falling into negative territory I go out and focus on positive things. It's not easy when you are down - but look and you will find.
