• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Currently my favorite Deathcore act :p

Couple of things to note in that screenie,

1. You have published your public IP address. If this is a static address I can assume I can always find you at this address, that you probably connect to your ISP via PPPoE and that you seem to be using Windows 7 - that's a good start to building an attack vector to possibly hack you modem/router/laptop etc.

2. Those network upload/download figures seem very high. Not sure what period of time those figures are for but you could attract the interest of anti-piracy bodies as one could assume you are possibly indulged in torrenting software. I may be wrong (and apologies if I am) but as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

So, in future, I would smear/smudge those the above details in order to protect your privacy.

One word: Tor. And i'm not even worried about those figures, those are relatively small. Editing, recording, uploading edits and streams of games that I compete in/shoutcast, no worries there mate.

Screenshot of my test desktop build of OpenBSD 5.4 (5.4 is officially released in November) and just shows the bare desktop with a couple of conky items for date/time and a RSS feed for the OpenBSD Journal at undeadly.org - love that URL :)

It features the Calm Window Manager which is very basic but highly configurable.

OpenBSD isn't for those that like to venture out of their comfort zone but is probably the most secure OS out there and, it's a great feeling to get this OS up and running. This box, well it's a mini-itx rig, is going to be reinstalled shortly with OpenBSD and will function as my new internet gateway/home server - what other OS would I feel safe with openly facing the net?.
